How come old devices and products (80s-00s) are so efficient and long lasting unlike products nowadays?
They do less. Let's use klipsch speakers as an example. I have a pair of klipsch kg 5.5 speakers from the 90s. They're amazing speakers. They are also just speakers. Amps, dacs, streamers, wifi, and Bluetooth are all in separate devices. The new Klipsch number series - the fives, the sevens, and the

ELAC DBR62 + Wiim Amp OR Klipsh The Sevens
Why would a streamer DAC amplifier last longer than powered speakers? I guess it is less costly to replace a Wiim than powered speakers. Anything with an app needing set up on a mobile phone isn't going to last as long as passive and active speakers do. If you consider ever going into surround sound

Good powered desktop/bookshelf speakers under $1,000
Absolutely. I’ve never had an issue with them, as opposed to my previous pair of Klipsch the Sevens. Kantos have been great

Are Klipsch The Nines any more reliable than The Sevens? I want to get the Sevens but I’m just coming across way too many people who’ve had unit failures with them. I’m considering the Nines since they seem to not have all the bad reviews but I also can’t see how the reliability would differ much be

At which price point does diminishing returns occur?
I guess it is good to start somewhere.:D That somewhere should have solid return or tryout policy. I was thinking like you. Then I just bought something. Immediately returned it. (Klipsch Five/Seven) Tried something else, returned it too. AXA25, as it really cannot drive even smallest 4ohms. Tried s
