Why is the X1 Carbon considered the most premium ThinkPad?

I have used the X1 Carbon Gen 13 and it didn't have anything that made it feel more premium Sorry, but as an owner of said device (and someone who has tested most current gen ThinkPads), I have to completely disagree with you. The difference is apparent the second you touch the X1 Carbon, since it i...

Losing my mind trying to spec out a ThinkPad...

Let's try to clarify things! T14 means T-series model and 14" screen; Letters at the end of the model name - "s" stands for slim, "v" for value, "p" for performance, "g" for graphics; there're some "double agents models" - P14s is T14 (except P14s Gen 5, it's finally a separate model), P16s is T16. ...

Why is the X1 Carbon considered the most premium ThinkPad?

The thing is it doesn't have a better cooling system than the T14s (note the s). The T14s Gen 6 is like 90% of the X1C Gen 13 at 3/4 of the price, with a lot more CPU and screen options too. I appreciate the engineering behind the X1C idea but a lot of those innovations are trickling down to lesser ...

4K and OLED screen?

That doesn't exist new. Thinkpad OLEDs in 14" are all 2.8k (2880*1800) and have been for a few years now. Highest-res 14"(well, 14.5" actually) is P14s Gen5 Intel which has a 3k(3072x1920) IPS display. Can only recommend sticking with one of those (have a bunch of T14s so configured). Lenovo ditched...

Thinkpad X9-15 After a week

I am the CTO at a medium sized company that has fielded the X1, X13, T14, T14s, T16 and various MacBook pros. I bought some X9-14's and X9-15's and have been using the X9-14 personally the last two months coming from an X1. The form factor is identical to the X1 which I love about it. After getting ...

Hey everyone — looking for ThinkPad recommendations 🙏

I think that 14" is best screen size and portability ratio. E14, L14,T14, T14s, X1 Carbons, make sure that display panel colour coverage is 100% sRGB. RAM 16gb or more (E14, L14, T14 and L14- RAM is upgradeable, the other two RAM is soldered hence non upgrades possible). T14 an L14 are the most reli...

T490s for £180

Look on eBay in the UK. Double check the fitted display of any older ThinkPad though, several have a very poor 1366x768 TN display which is well worth avoiding. On a brief search I found a UK refurb dealer, Newandusedlaptops4u with three models worth a look. All 1080p IPS displays, all listed as ver...

Best Thinkpad for basic online school?

Prices vary by country, and likely nearer € 300. eBay is a good source, as they often have discount coupons with referb dealers. Look at T14 or T14s Gen 1 AMD Ryzen 5 or 7. T14s thinner, lighter, and a larger battery, but RAM is fixed, so consider 16GB or 32GB models only. T14 offers upgrade-able RA...

ThinkPad E14 Gen 7 options?

All E14 Gen7 have two SSD slots. Memory is upgradeable or not depending on CPU architecture, E14/16 is the only decently-priced Thinkpad offering two storage slots. All other models offering this feature are high-priced workstation-grade ones. Go for a model with the Intel Lunar Lake CPUs (258V for ...
