I believe the Thinkpad T14 Gen 7 is a worthy successor to the T480.
It is, but it's also horrendously expensive. In EU stores Lenovo charges 360€ for upgrading the RAM from 16GB to 32GB. You can get a whole 32GB LPCAMM2 module for that price. My T480 is slowly dying and I really wanted to get the T14 Gen7, but I'm not paying 1500€ for a 16GB system with the most bas

Framework is keeping its word and making older hardware compatible with newer hardware, the only way to gradually create a market standard.
Backwards-compatibility is a super important part of upgradability. This is what, for me, gives the Framework Laptop 13 the edge over the recent reparable ThinkPads. If I buy a ThinkPad T14 Gen 5 and then a few years from now either my mainboard dies or I want to upgrade to a newer generation CPU, I

Thinkpad T14S Gen 5 - Why aren't there a lot of reviews for this version?
https://www.notebookcheck.net/Lenovo-ThinkPad-T14s-Gen-5-laptop-review-The-premium-T-ThinkPad-with-Intel-Core-Ultra.866472.0.html 165H should be better, but less battery life (comparable to Zen 3 IIRC?). Not sure how it cools the 165H. T14s positioning is horrible in recent gens, especially Intel, a

This is ridiculous tbh
That's the best part; you don't know how widespread this may actually/truly be. Not a lot of users immediately go to Reddit and say "LOOK AT MY GREEN LINE" I worked at Lenovo during the release of the X1 Carbon 9th generation; the internet still has notes on "what was happening" but it's a few spora

Is anyone else having to hold off laptop purchases?
Lenovo prices went up about 25% since January but we still need to replace ~25% of our laptops this year. (4 year warranty so laptops last 4 years before they're sold). That 25% made our T14s build more expensive than our "premium" Apple MacBook Air M5 build. We ended up going for the Ultra5 chip in

Should I get a Thinkpad T14 Gen 1?
I'd honestly recommend swapping drives to a Windows drive temporarily so you can use Lenovo Vantage to update, T14s is such a wide variety model that I wouldn't trust downloading the BIOS file. BIOS will say what version it's running, if you just want to compare just enter your Service Tag number fr

Windows on Snapdragon X2 Elite Extreme is finally what Arm laptops should have been
I don't know who's ultimately to blame in your case - the Ryzen T14s being a work machine I immediately get flashbacks from efficiency-(and performance!-)destroying security software and intrusive GPOs ruining energy settings (combined with outdated BIOSes, oh the irony...) - but Lenovo's AMD Thinkp

2 ThinkPads for $140 How'd I do?
Well, to put it lightly, the hinge mounts on the Storm Grey T14s Gen 2 are pretty disastrous. There are actually quite a few posts on here of people's misfortunes with it, and if you go on ebay like I just did, you'll find a couple of these with completely busted hinge mounts.

My T14 Gen 5 AMD Experience: I bought it, I used it, I sold it
Materials wise I mean it's a stepdown because the T480s and T14 G5 are different tiers. It's like comparing the T480s to the T480 - T--s is always much more premium. It's just a heavier X1C honestly. Thermals wise, I mean the T480s would have been able to sustain around (EDIT: I checked, was around

I’m starting to resent my T480
Before spending money on a newer laptop, ditch the Windows11 and reset your T480 to the state it was in when it was new. Then update the Win10 to the latest 22H2 release, check that Microsoft Update doesn't replace any Lenovo-supplied drivers with generic ones and enroll in ESUs to keep receiving se
