For portability, wouldn’t you want a smaller, lighter machine? (you may want to look at X13/T14s/X1 Carbon instead - these should have the same footprint as your HP..)

Performance wise, Apple Silicon absolutely thrashes anything in the x86 world. No point. The X1 Carbons are already under 1kg. It's in the 900g range, same as the X1 Nano. The X13 also serves as a cheaper X1 Nano replacement right now, with some models now being under 1kg.

I think thats Lenovo trying to circumvent its exclusive partnership with Intel on X1C.
