I have a x13 gen 4 7540u, normal discharge rate (browser, pdf) is around 4-5 watts, and 2 watts on idle, ON LINUX. The same workload on windows is around 8 watts. Hence I suggest you give Linux a try, since I'm not sure whether your chip is just as optimised as mine.

I think you'll be fine with a T440p or T540p for light use, if you put one of the quad core CPU's in it and run Mint or LMDE. If you want to tinker with it. My X13 Gen 2 runs windows 11 T470S runs Mac OS Tahoe X250 runs Ubuntu 24.04 Each laptop has different uses and has an operating system to suit. I will say Ubuntu transformed my X250. It was painfully slow on windows and it flies with Ubuntu, it feels snappier than the x13!

I just bought a renewed 2020 ThinkPad X13 Gen 1 for $330 from Amazon. It's got a Ryzen 5 Pro CPU, 32GB of RAM and 512GB storage. It came with Windows 11, but I installed ChromeOS Flex right away. Very fast and stable, as far as I can tell.
