Best laptop under €700?
The m1 MacBook Air can be got for under €700 which is a serious enough laptop for the money. I don’t use Mac though I use windows, you’d get a nice X13 series Lenovo Thinkpad tough for that money either. Fairly robust as well as I use mine out in the field.

I’m starting to resent my T480
As a student, you might as well come back to MacBook - brand-new Neo is 850 CAD with education discount, or you should be able to find older M chip Air models under 1000 CAD second hand. You get Microsoft Office IIRC, good battery life, good bright screen (some ThinkPads model configs still somewhat

I really love the idea of owning thinkpad instead of a mac. The only thing stopping me is the sound quality.
Get a recent one. X1 Carbon Gen 13has fabulous speakers. In comparison older ones (2018 Carbon Gen 6) are way worse to even crappy (X200 from like 2008). The X13 Gen 2 (2021???) has okay-ish (compared to 2015 13.3 MBP and 2015 12 MB). Edit: well, since you have a Mac and you're thinking about a new

Thinkpad T14S Gen 5 - Why aren't there a lot of reviews for this version?
https://www.notebookcheck.net/Lenovo-ThinkPad-T14s-Gen-5-laptop-review-The-premium-T-ThinkPad-with-Intel-Core-Ultra.866472.0.html 165H should be better, but less battery life (comparable to Zen 3 IIRC?). Not sure how it cools the 165H. T14s positioning is horrible in recent gens, especially Intel, a

Which ThinkPad is better to choose?
(for my tastes) T14 gen 2 or X13, amd (better energy efficiency for this generation, the battery, if it's not too worn out, lasts well over 4 hours)

I get tired of all the linux jerking on this subreddit so heres windows 11 working perfectly well on a 15 year old thinkpad x201!
The 11th gen i5 of my X13 outperforms the 9th gen i9 of my X1 Xtreme (in single core performance).

New computer fleet for law firm
Hey mate, Aussie MSP here, the T14 is a much better long term option to the T14s, I just find what the T14s tries to do in weight reduction its worse in heat dissipation and fan noise. If you want a lighter unit look at the x13 (smaller screen) The normal T14 are our standard for most laptop users.

Cool club can I join?
Oh wow that's a gorgeous one congratulations. I've got the X13 2-in-1 gen 5 which is all black, but this one with the oled must be a pleasure to use!

Calling all students using Thinkpad : help me choose one !
The T14 gen 2 is a lot newer than the x380, if you can find a T14 with an AMD CPU , I would go for that , no reason not to trust it. The x380 was replaced by the x13 and x13 yoga , you can look into those too .

From Macbook Pro 2021 back to Linux: Recommendations?
You can run Asahi Linux on your M1. If you want something more flexible that will run whatever reasonable distro you want, look for a Thinkpad T, P, X1 or X13 (X9 is hit or miss on compatibility) that fits the budget. There are a lot on eBay because these are bought in large numbers by corporations
