Why do you love thinkpad?
I once found a ThinkPad X270 at my school, literally thrown into a trash container without RAM or a disk. I grabbed it and tried to revive it by installing some spare RAM from another laptop, but it didn’t turn on. I was really sad and had no idea how to fix it, so I just stored it in my room like a

Convince me to get Framework over Macbook
Using Linux: It is a pro as well as a con. Everything "just worked" with macOS, especially proprietary software required for university, like Zoom and Microsoft Office suites. I remember trying to daily drive my ThinkPad X270, only to constantly having to switch back to my Macbook since Zoom screen

Switching from Windows 11 Pro to Linux
On my ThinkPad X270, I use LMDE7 with XFCE. But Debian (13) with KDE Plasma should run really smoothly on your Laptop.

Fedora 42 - A Class of Its Own (V2)
Yeah, Linux sysadmin for many years. About 3 months ago I made the jump. Had spare time - went arch. 2 weeks ago I moved to Fedora 42 on Desktop and on my ThinkPad x270. Main PC is a Ryzen 2990WX + 96G of ram + RX7900 XTX/RX6600 with 5 screens Both machines run Fedora KDE flawlessly, everything work

Convince me to get Framework over Macbook
We can't tell you your priorities. With Apple, you pay a premium for their Apple Silicone processors and their ecosystem. With Framework, you pay a premium for repairability and upgradeability. With Thinkpads, you pay a premium for a specific form factor and ruggedness. I personally would never buy

Used linux for 2 months and switched back to Win11
I believe one needs to use the tools one needs to get the work done. I personally have a MacBook for video editing but I love my ThinkPad x270. It has opened my mind to a whole new aspect of tinkering with computers and I am really enjoying it.

Convince me to get Framework over Macbook
I remember trying to daily drive my ThinkPad X270, only to constantly having to switch back to my Macbook since Zoom screen sharing on Wayland was a nightmare [...] I remember this too, this is fixed nowadays thankfully (at least on modern KDE+Fedora). I've also tried recently on Hyprland, sharing w

Battery not working properly x270, 6 cell 72WH
Hey, I’ve run into the same issue when hunting for a new battery for my old ThinkPad x270. I bought a replacement from AliExpress, and as soon as I installed it, my CPU frequency tanked just like you described. Tried all the usual tricks from the internet-tweaking power settings, reinstalling driver

Is there a reason to use Linux for gaming other than hating Windows?
I don't use Linux for gaming, at least not to the extent that others might, simply because 1. I'm not nearly as big into PC gaming as the average gamer and 2. If I do want PC gaming, I have a much more powerful gaming laptop still running W11 for the time being. I primarily use Linux on my "daily dr
