The Surface Pro 7 (not 7+) is end of life as of October 2025. That alone is disqualifying in my book since it means no driver and firmware updates, including security updates. https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/surface/surface-driver-firmware-lifecycle-support

Microsoft announces sweeping Windows changes
It's too late. It's just too late. I was perfectly happy with Windows 10 on my Microsoft Surface Pro 7. And then you stop supporting Windows 10. But I can't put Windows 11 on a perfectly good Microsoft Surface Pro 7. So now, it's running mint Linux. And I'll never go back.

Pro 4 stuck on post
I am thinking: SSD issue replace it and retest -> Microsoft Surface Pro 4 SSD Drive Replacement - iFixit Repair Guide firmware update issue, or motherboard issue - find some cheap parts on ebay? - 40$ https://www.ebay.com/itm/298043314940 But you have to decide is spending money worth it to fix it?

best audio settings for windows computer ?
To get the best audio performance from the surface pro requires some configuration to Windows settings and use of an ASIO audio driver. Steinberg make a universal ASIO driver that works with the Surface Pro's on board sound card. If you don't already have an audio interface, give this ASIO driver a

Switching to Linux (Surface pro 7+)
Most linux distrobutions, like Ubuntu, Zorin, Pop!_OS, and Linux Mint come with touchscreen support. If you want a windows like experience, i reccomend Fedora Kinoite, as it looks like windows, recieves good updates and you can easily rollback if an update goes haywire. My second best option would b

Surface fans: How do you view the Surface brand in 2026?
As a Surface Pro 7+ owner and fan, when it dies I'll likely replace it with a Samsung Tab S9 11" or look at the Lenovo offerings. Current Surfaces look too expensive for what you get, plus not happy with Microsofts decisions with the OS

downgrade to w10
ngl windows 11 is frustrating with all the ads and forced features. i downgraded my surface pro 7+ to windows 10 last year. the key is using microsoft's own recovery image from their website - search 'surface recovery image' and enter your serial. itll give you a win10 image with all drivers baked i

Which simple control surface is right for me?
Could run Reaper on a touch screen laptop and not have to worry about 2nd screens. A reconditioned Microsoft Surface Pro 7+\8 2022 or later costs less than a new iPad, will give a i7 16 GB Ram and 512 GB SSD, a real OS with full desktop power and full make range of plugins. It has detachable keyboar

i also would like to keep the s-pen but i rarely use it, maybe once or twice a month. main reason for me is that the note taking apps are all bad and my case with s-pen slot is broken and i cannot find a replacement where the s-pen slot is on the side instead of the back so that i still can use qi c
