You almost had it but ms-a1 yes you need a desktop cpu or you get the one that comes with 8700g. The A1 also has oculink so the sky is the limit after that. I have the MS-A1. It's fine, 96 GB of ram and a 7900 with the dock. Having some issues with TPM which may have just been fixed with a new BIOS. See my recent activity to find that thread if you're interested in using the dock.
