Laptop for dummies

Popular laptop companies: ASUS (high-end - gaming, more trustworthy build (chassis, hinges, etc.)), MSI (high-end - gaming, cheaper), Lenovo (mid-high end). MSI Katana 15 is pretty powerful for its price of 1200€, but it might be a little noisy in daily tasks (e.g. YT). If you want quiet (does not t...

Help me pick a laptop please my budget is £500 and I want to get started in after effects

Either the MSI Stealth or the HP Omen because 16gb ram is your minimum. Don't stress about the people telling you it will be a terrible experience: you're using this for experimenting and learning. Don't attempt anything 4k, and for your own ease of use stick to working on sequences at 720p rather t...

Using vertical laptop stand

I tried using 2 my MSI laptops with closed lid, but horizontally. MSI GS63 Stealth and MSI Delta 15. Both of them have ventilation openings under the lid. Both of them overheated up to emergency shut down during heavy load. No damage to screen found though, but technically it also could be a problem...

My MSI laptop has the same specs and I bought it back in 2017 as well. I have the stealth pro 15 in I think? Anywho, I've had that laptop for 8 years and can run games just fine. While it's at 99 percent utilization and temps are getting high. 🤣 But that's playing helldiver's 2 on potatoe settings....

So Fed Up - Fuck you, ASUS

Oh it's a 100% Windows issue. Happened to my wife's Dell XPS 15 & 17 and my MSI Stealth. I pretty much always shut down when putting the laptop in my bag after the one bad experience. As for your overheating now. It's likely the Liquid Metal is not making good contact anymore. Could be when Asus was...

What is your preferred work machine? For you, not your users.

I still have a Dell XPS 9950 with an i9 CPU and 32GB RAM from my previous company that I absolutely love. Like literally zero complaints. With my new company I have an HP laptop and it's just not as good. For example, no USB-C on both sides. The Dells all had USB-C on both sides, which is very conve...

Intel 12th Gen i7-12700H and 96GB RAM

Just tried 96GB of ram in my MSI Stealth GS66-12UH, it states a max of 64GB on intel's and MSI's website but I gave it a go anyways after seeing other threads talking about the 12600H and 96GB working, unfortunately with the crucial kit I bought (5600Mhz CL46) it just got stuck with a black screen e...
