Did you connect your pc to the router with an Ethernet cable? Also, I'm pretty sure your pc can't be used as a modem . . . Also pretty sure the RS700S is overkill and you could have gotten away with using the one I bought. I just hooked up my new Netgear Nighthawk RS300 a week ago.

I would pay a bit more for a WRT-capable router, as the other commenter recommended. Netgear, ASUS, and Eero are the best brands I've used in residential deployments. Check out Netgear's Nighthawk RAX50 (WiFi 6 capable, and costs ~$150-200). If you want WiFi 7 capability, look at the Nighthawk RS300

Even the cheaper Mesh systems without wired backhaul will suffer. You could go with a really expensive Deco system that has good wireless backhaul but you're looking at $800-1000. I tried the BE9300, wasn't happy with it. I ended up buying a refurb RS700S. The RS300 didn't have the push to get the internet across my house but its 3500sq ft. Even the corners where signal strength was like 60% are 90+ now. The Netgear Nighthawk RS700S is a beast of a router!
