Farpoint 55

I use an osprey farpoint 55 for everything at this point. Should work for what you’re doing. Kind of the Toyota Camry of backpacks, nothing fancy but does 95% of what you need and won’t die

At your price point of $150, you might want to have a look at the Osprey Farpoint or Daylite Carry-on. The latter I think is that price, and the former I've seen on sale for around that or just under. As for comfort, you'll need to try them on (fully loaded) to feel how they will be for you.

I agree with you. I tend to find the laptop space in larger bags more annoying than useful. I bought the Osprey Farpoint 55 over the 40 just to have the, in my opinion, better 40l bag. Agreed this is a terrible Design. Photo of my friend that owns one. I own a farpoint 55 from 2013. Not carry on sadly. But you could Zip the day pack on top. I guess they wanted to cut costs but the result is a tad disappointing. Why Osprey?

The Osprey Farpoint makes an excellent "standard" against which to judge other bags for travel. Note that the 40L main bag that comes in the 55L package is NOT the same as the separate 40L bag - it lacks the outside access specialty pockets, presumably because that is what the included 15L bag is to
