First time backpacking and I need a rucksack for a trip? Is this a good choice?

Coming from someone who was light infantry and had the “pleasure” of using this squeaky bastard on countless a twelve mile ruck march, I’d avoid it like the plague. If you’re interested in using military surplus gear, go with the ALICE pack instead. In complete honesty though, your money would be mu

(need advice) Osprey Farpoint 40 vs Kestrel 38

The Farpoint is a travel pack. It is absolutely the wrong type of backpack for the Camino. I strongly advise against using it. Kestrel LT 35 vs Kestrel 38 vs Talon Pro 30/40 for rough trails?

The Kestrel and the Talon are the same construction and materials, and Osprey has an excellent warranty. If you concerned about comfort you really need to try them on yourself and see what fits your body shape.

Fits everything you’d need for a day shot and carries the weight well while still being light. Seemi

Backpack recommendations

For dry canyons I'd highly recommend sticking with something with a proper frame. The Kolob is great, but SO expensive... Something like a used Osprey Scorpion, Osprey Kestrel, or similar works fine and can be found cheapy useconsumables. Canyon packs are a consumable.
