First time backpacking and I need a rucksack for a trip? Is this a good choice?

Coming from someone who was light infantry and had the “pleasure” of using this squeaky bastard on countless a twelve mile ruck march, I’d avoid it like the plague. If you’re interested in using military surplus gear, go with the ALICE pack instead. In complete honesty though, your money would be mu

(need advice) Osprey Farpoint 40 vs Kestrel 38

The Farpoint is a travel pack. It is absolutely the wrong type of backpack for the Camino. I strongly advise against using it. Go with the Kestrel or explore other backpacks made for camping while walking distances ie backpacking backpacks. Look at the Osprey Exos 38 or something else by Osprey or G

Backpack recommendations with pack pain

I was in a similar situation after cracking a few vertebrae. My answer was an Osprey pack with otherwise ultralight gear. I think it's a Kestrel 38, but I could be wrong. I was able to take almost all the weight off my back. They're some fully featured packs like Durston's that are lighter than most

A day pack that won't cause migraines?!

I LOVE my osprey kestrel, but it's too big for a day pack. I think mine's above 50L. Maybe they have a smaller one? For wearing a daypack, if you can get one that transfer the weight to your hips it should help a lot. If you can go try them on in store, loaded down, that's best. Kestrel works for me

Am I making a mistake taking a 58L bag ?

Kinda shocked by the answers here tbh. I feel like most ppl are trying to make you feel better rather than actually helping you. Im in the middle of my camino atm. Ive been paying attention to everyone’s backpack throughout the way because im a backpack nerd and most (more than 80%) of folks’ daypac

Salutare!

Best backpacks for women?

My favorite and most comfortable backpack is 100% a backpacking pack and it's for men. Idk I have a longer torso. It's the osprey kestrel. But it doesn't look like it belongs in an office. If you don't want a clearly outdoor style backpack, I think like others have said, a wheel briefcase, or even a

Budget backpack for multi-day trips

I bought the one below (no longer available online) as an upscale from my Osprey Kestrel 38... and even at 50+10 find it a squeeze sometimes. Once you add in cookset and food I'm often maxed out. I could move and attach more stuff to the outside, but then you've got it exposed to rain and the cover

backpack for 4x5

As someone with 2 cervical implants, I'd really recommend getting a proper hiking backpack with solid hip support and a breathable back system (Osprey, Gregory, etc.). I switched from a Lowepro photo backpack to an Osprey Kestrel and my neck/back feel way better now.

Kestrel LT 35 vs Kestrel 38 vs Talon Pro 30/40 for rough trails?

The Kestrel and the Talon are the same construction and materials, and Osprey has an excellent warranty. If you concerned about comfort you really need to try them on yourself and see what fits your body shape.
