S5ii bro. Everybody here saying Sony but I truly could not be happier for my decision to go LUMIX. Like seriously I really could not recommend it enough. I freakin love that camera. I’d say rent both for a day or a weekend and try them out first. A worthwhile small investment for such a big decision

S5iiX and S1ii longtime user here! Been in this situation hunting lenses, many times, for10 yrs. Short answer if one-and-done: Sigma 20-200 Tried almost all Sigmas and Lumixes, bought every FF L mount focal length from primes to zooms, 14-200mm. M4/3 too. Can't go wrong with any starting out really.

I've run my S5ii for 2-3 hours straight in 90+ degree weather in the sun continuous and I never even think to check it because it just works. I was caught off guard when people started reporting overheating for the S1ii because I've had such a good experience with Lumix and the S5ii.

Here are my tips/what I do. My AF is tact sharp, around the 90% within Sony and Canon range. I also use the 24-70 S Pro, as well as the 70-200mm S Pro (f2.8), 16-35mm S Pro, and a bunch of LUMIX Prime lenses. Update to the latest firmware that released yesterday. It’s totally worth it, you will love this camera. I’m a full time wedding videographer/photographer and S5ii are my main camera currently and I’ve been using LUMIX for 10 years. I’m upgrading to S1II soon!

You are saying Fuji X-S20 offers open gate compared to Lumix lineup? Lumix offers open gate on all of their mirrorless lineups. Apart from that I'd vote for S5II, it has mechanical shutter and built in fan when compared to S9 and still relatively compact. For video work Lumix footage will look with
