Are the cheap options really good

My first one (Pocketbook Basic Lux 4) was the cheapest one availiable for me and it was definitely worth it. No idea what that costs in India, but..... For comparison: I gave 900 DKR for it and the cheapest Kindle would have cost around double that.

Pocketbook Basic Lux 4 vs Verse

They are quite similar but the Verse is only slightly better. The Verse has USB-C, warm light, a bigger battery, which the Basic Lux 4 doesn't have. However, the Verse is also much heavier. This great site breaks down the differences: https://comparisontabl.es/e-readers/?product1=PocketBook+Basic+Lu

Is it possible to get an e-reader without any "store" or internet access that I can just download my epub files onto via usb?

Yes, but it may not be as cheap as you want. I have a PocketBook Basic Lux 4, I didn't bother with the "store" setup and just load all my books on it via USB. It's very simple, has physical page turn buttons, good screen, and good battery life. Not sure where you are located but in the US, the Basic

First e-reader - torn between portability and immersive experience. Any advice?

I have a Kobo Clara Colour at the moment and it works fine for me. Size is good for transportation and I can read in bed without disturbing my wife ;) I had a Pocketbook Basic Lux 4 before and it was the same. Reason I switched was Kobo Plus. Sideloading is easy on both too

7" ereader for Canadian who gets migraines

I have the Pocketbook Basic Lux 4 and I recommend it; it's not flashy and has many font styles.

New to ereaders, what to look for?

The pocketbook verse or basic lux 4 is an option basic has a better screen but there it's a lesser known brand Cognita I think that's what they're called that also has micro SD card slot has a weaker e-ink display. Obviously there's the Android os e-ink from boox and bigme with expanded memory slot.

What e-reader to buy?

Just get the cheapest PocketBook that meets your needs (e.g., if you want USB-C, you'll have to buy the Verse or Verse Pro instead of the Basic Lux 4). It's a European company and their e-readers natively support more formats than Kobo does. You can also easily install KOReader on PocketBook devices

I might get myself an ereader. Is pocketbook the best ereader since it was recommend from my firend

“The best” is very, very subjective! :D PocketBook is a respectable mainstream European brand that makes very decent ereaders. One big plus point for them is that unlike other major brands these days, they have physical buttons on their ereaders in 6’’, 7’’ and 7.8’’ size. On the other hand, people

Frustration station....

I have a PocketBook Basic Lux 4, which has physical buttons, and I really like it. Much faster than my Kindle Paperwhite, better organization options, no need for a store tie-in because books can easily be side-loaded via USB. The page turn buttons are on the bottom front of the Lux 4, which is a ve
