Got curious. Put a 1tb SSD in my PS3

I had a Samsung 870 EVO collecting dust so I decided to see if I could install it in my PS3 and still use the stock firmware. It was a success! Load times are much quicker.

SSD Usage spikes to 100% Randomly, When booting up a game or downloading which causes my pc to freeze up

“One important thing to know: the BX500 is a DRAM-less budget SSD, so it’s perfectly fine for game storage, general use, media, or reviving an older PC, but it’s not as strong for heavy write workloads, VM use, or a main high-performance OS drive compared with something like a Samsung 870 EVO or a g

So long Crucial... thanks for the fishes

Back in early 2023, Samsung 970 Evo Plus 500GB drives were going for under $30. Should’ve bought hundreds.

Recommend me some good PS3 SSD's

Kingstons are fine. I have 3 of them, 240gb in PC, 500 in slim PS3 and a 120 in a BC fat. Samsung EVO if you want something more premium.

Is this a genuine Sandisk microSD - to be used with my Switch?

All fake sandisk looks real. The only way to test H2testw. That goes for all cards out there. Just that there are more fake Sandisks than Samsung. I'd get a SamSung EVO. Sandisk is seriously overrated.

What hard drives are you using these days?

I see the post about Samsung EVO 870's. These are regular SSD's. The WD SN850X M.2 NVMe drives will be DRAMATICALLY faster. And believe me - I have no issue with EVO 870's - I use them all the time. But the M.2 drives will just blow them away. Bob Zelin

Mint, it just works

If you get yourself a Samsung EVO model SSD, it will last you decades, longer than the laptop. Crucial’s MX line is also very sturdy. I have a Kingston 120GB SSD I bought in 2013, it’s now a boot drive for one of my little DIY servers. Still works.
