Workflow Optimizations?

Here is what we do at my facility : - We have a template folder structure that we reuse for each project. This is really something you build yourself, it can be as simple as two folders (eg. « SOURCE » and « OUTPUT ») , or more complex to fit your needs. What matters is that it’s sound enough to fit

I am planning to buy a external SSD can you suggest me some options??

Google this: “Highest TBW external SSD” TBW means terabytes written. It tells you how much data the SSD is rated to write before it is considered worn out. Higher TBW = better endurance on paper. For normal use, you probably won’t ever hit the TBW limit. Even with lots of file transfers, a good SSD

My X1 Carbon Gen 9

Still going strong. Ended up replacing the SSD with a Samsung 990Pro 1Tb and repasting the CPU with some Arctic MX-6. It's been impeccable so far, by far the best laptop experience I have ever had. I bring it with me on my backpack everywhere I go and it's perfect at that. The build quality is prett

How do you preserve longevity of your SSDs?

First of all, I gave up on ZFS for this very reason. First of all, ZFS itself does not cause write amplification. Wrong pool geometry (RAIDZ instead of mirror), changing volblocksize does. Maybe CoW a little bit (ZIL). But that is all negligible in a home setup. Home use here, so it is what it is. I

Need More Advice!

You're absolutely right about everything. However is it just to save money on switching out the SSD? I keep reading how the Samsung 990 Pro is extremely reliable, and is great for the long run. I thought maybe that made it a premium SSD which is why it is pricey.

Best pc for $2k-$2.5k

For a motherboard, I would go with a b850m from gigabyte as it supports am5 and all the later things. For psu, just find a good one from cybernetics though I would recommend at the very least 750W gold 80+. Ram get 32gb 6000mhz ddr5 preferably with low latency though currently that’s pretty expensiv

Best 2TB SSD upgrade?

2tb Samsung 990 pro Also use it with Mini M4. Looks like an internal stuff with Satechi Stand & Hub. Much more reliable as comparing to those internal upgrades.
