based on my spreadsheets from when i was tracking parts few years ago, the 990 pro should be solid choice - samsung fixed those issues in newer batches.

Apple has historically and still does egregiously upcharge for storage increases, yes. but at the same time, 2 ish years ago I bought 5 4tb 990 pro ssds for like $300 each whereas right now they seem to be going for $950+ some even over $1,000, meanwhile apple has not increased their storage upgrade

You're absolutely right about everything. However is it just to save money on switching out the SSD? I keep reading how the Samsung 990 Pro is extremely reliable, and is great for the long run. I thought maybe that made it a premium SSD which is why it is pricey.
