How do you preserve longevity of your SSDs?

First of all, I gave up on ZFS for this very reason. First of all, ZFS itself does not cause write amplification. Wrong pool geometry (RAIDZ instead of mirror), changing volblocksize does. Maybe CoW a little bit (ZIL). But that is all negligible in a home setup. Home use here, so it is what it is. I

Alguem que testo upgrade de 64gb de ram ddr5 e 4tb de almaçenamento no ANV15-51 core i5 rtx 3050?

i tested 64gb on a similar nitro - get kingston fury ddr5 32gb sticks (2x32gb). crucial's site says it works. for 4tb grab a samsung 990 pro 4tb - your model has two m.2 slots. just update bios to latest version first. my 32gb setup recognized immediately but 64gb needed a cmos reset after installat

Threadripper 2970 / 4070ti / 64gb X399 bench (slow storage read write bus)

Ahhhhh ok this is more what I was looking for. I had to google the board and threadripper but can you confirm its pic e 3.0? If that is the platform your nvmes are being bottlenecked by the mobo. So if you had a 990 pro from Samsung it will only read and write at 3500mb/s even though it’s labeled fo

NVMe drives and enclosure

I have a 4TB Samsung 990 Pro in my 40GBPS enclosure, a first gen OWC 1M2 (they have a 2nd gen TB5 80GBPS model). The 990 Pro M.2 is way faster than the Thunderbolt 4 bandwidth can carry, by about 2x. It is just slightly faster than Thunderbolt 5 can carry. The 990 Pro gets about 7500MBPS and the TB5

Best 2TB SSD upgrade?

i went through this last month with my M4. for reliability i'd look at the Samsung 990 Pro or WD Black SN850X. both have solid controllers and good heat management. some of the cheaper drives do fail over time especially with constant read writes. the 990 Pro has been super stable for me and works f

How’s my battle station?

It’s obscured by the chair in the post— but I also have this next to my desk. It’s good for accessible storage. I also like looking at my PC up close since I put a lot of hard work into it. These are the specs: PC Specs • CPU: Intel Core i7-14700K • Motherboard: ASUS ROG Strix Z790-E Gaming WiFi II

Need Motherboard Recommendation for 9950x3D (for Workstation)

EDIT : THANK YOU ALL FOR THE SUPPORT ! I've literally considered everything the comments mentioned. I've deep dived and someone also suggested Gigabyte Aorus Pro x3D (Elite x3D is more popular in EU, unfortunately not in my country) so I went along with it. Currently very happy by it (Only thing is

How to add another 2TB SSD on a G16

So its true, it only officially supports 2tb and thats also what asus will tell you. But luckily I read, someone else experimented with specifically the samsung 990 pro 4tb and the WD, and the 990 pro is the one that worked. I took the gamble myself and it worked perfectly!!

Good 2tb SSD drives for $400 or under ?

for the 2025 g14 you want a single-sided ssd to avoid heat issues. at $400 you've got great options. Samsung 990 Pro 2TB runs around $280-320, hits 7450MB/s, and the magician software helps with thermal monitoring. WD Black SN850X 2TB is similar performance around $260-300. if you want to save a bit

Will Samsung 990 pro with heatsink get fit in my acer nitro 5 AN515-45-R21A ( RTX 3060 with Ryzen 5 5600h)

i've got the same model - the heatsink version won't fit, the clearance is too tight. grab the samsung 990 pro without heatsink instead. the laptop's own thermal pad will contact the drive. i'm running a 2tb in mine and temps stay under 65c during gaming. just make sure to clone your old drive first
