24 fps as a “sacred cow” isn’t 30 fps more practical for social media?

Man, what a time to be alive. Any time this conversation comes up, I'm instantly brought back to my childhood bedroom circa 2002. I spent countless hours searching the internet, doing whatever I could to find out how to make MiniDV footage that came from my Sony VX-2000 look like it was shot on film

Becoming a wedding photographer in 2026?

Just so you know, the jump from "playing around with photography" to "wedding photographer" is a multi-year journey, and most people will quit or not develop the appropriate skillset to become a professional. Sony A7 III is far better than a A6400 for wedding photography. The best one lens solution

I have the money for a full frame camera for the first time since having kids. I start looking at the Z5ii and R10 and then the lenses and realize I don't want to spend almost $4,000 on a camera and lens. Does anyone also feel fine with M43 but get scared away with prices on FF?

I had a FF Sony kit and an M43 kit for the longest time. A7III for pretty much everything that wasn’t wildlife, EM1 MK3 for wildlife. On a whim, I picked up a cheap used Lumix 14-140mm mkII off of facebook and took just the Olympus with me for a trip. When I came home and went through my pics, I dum

iPhone 15 Pro Max vs Sony A7III

Posted some travel photos recently here from Japan and South Korea and got some comments doubting they were shot on iPhone 😅 So thought it would be interesting to do a quick comparison. Tried to find the most similar shots I had across both my iPhone 15 Pro Max and Sony A7III with matching editing.

Are you all Professional Photographers or is the GRIII really that good?

Doesn’t matter what camera it is, it’s about light and composition. I absolutely love my GRIII and GRIIIx but that’s mainly just cause it’s a crop sensor camera in the smallest package I can imagine. I definitely have pics from it that are way better than some pics I’ve taken with my Sony A7III and

I captured the comet Lemmon with my mirrorless camera

C/2025 A6 (Lemmon) captured with my usual and modest astromodified a7III at 600mm. By pure chance, I was able to try the Sony 200-600mm a couple of nights ago. My intention was to make a few tests, to shoot Andromeda, Orion, and the Pleiades just to see how they look at 600mm, and I thought of givin

What is it with Nikon and Social Media

The problem is other brands early mirrorless didn't suck This is just not true. First two FF Sony Alpha gens (A7 and A7 II) were issue-ridden, with lackluster color science, abysmal battery life, and mediocre AF. The first really good Sony mirrorless body was the A7 III. Canon RP was a piece of junk

ITAP of the Milky Way arch in Sierra Nevada

It keeps surprising me how many places there are where I live and how many Milky Way compositions I can find. One day you’re at the top of a frozen mountain, another at the beach, and another in a desert — just an hour’s drive away. This one was kinda a long hike, with snow inside my boots and every

New vs old sensor - best colours

Sensors pretty much plateaued around 2012-2015. Sensor technology is constantly improving. It's just that the big sensor used in "real" cameras only have gotten limited benefits from it. Mobile phone sensors are in many ways much more advanced as being smaller finer manufacturing geometries can be u
