Litter Robot 5

Yeah, their camera subscription is ridiculous. I got the 2K Tapo camera with an SD card and a LR camera mount for ~$80. It doesn’t require any yearly fees, has AI pet detection, lets me view the camera in real time, and saves as many videos as I want.

Upgrading TP-Link Tapo cameras. Stuck between Eufy vs Ring?

After using eufy security cameras for 6 weeks, I purchased a Tapo indoor camera because I wasn't satisfied with the motion detection performance of the eufy cameras. Having used the Tapo for 3 weeks, I'm very satisfied with the Tapo indoor camera's motion detection accuracy. Of course, compared to t

Thoughts on AI use?

I have multiple non AI cameras and honestly I have no interest in the petlibro AI camera even though I love their products. My TAPO cameras detect if my cats are meowing and they are set up in strategic places so I can keep track of their drinking, eating and litterbox habits. They cost about 20€ to

H500 in Homekit?

I have a bunch of cameras, most without memory cards because I use HomeKit Secure Video (Scrypted =>Apple Home). It was cost effective for me to buy the H500 plus a 2.5" SSD versus a bunch of microSD cards. Note: Installing a memory card disables the local stream needed for Scrypted, which is why I

Is there a "use this camera with Blue Iris" post?

Tapo cameras have RTSP but it must be enabled in the settings first. They probably send data to China but they work well at motion detection. I have several set recording constantly with BI and on the microSD with motion detect as a backup

Has anyone used Secuview for home security in Qatar? Looking for feedback.

The best is to just get a lot of Tapo Cameras connect them wherever you want and connect them to wifi, then connect them all to a machine with "Frigate" installed on it, then you have all the data and recording and AI features and detection and it's very reliable and most impotantly, free 😄

Is this a good deal for TC85

The biggest thing to know about Battery-Powered cameras is that even with a Solar Panel to charge, they are not ideal for high-traffic areas. The battery drain in high-traffic areas is generally too much for the camera to keep up with, even with a solar panel. This isn't just for TP-Link/Tapo camera

What capabilities do you wish your home security device or system had that it doesn’t have today, or could be improved?

I wish cameras had more flexibility of placement. Sometimes I would like to have a camera in a location where I don't have anything to hang it on at the optimal height and angle. Tapo cameras miss a lot when set up lower. Watching wildlife is a secondary purpose for our security cameras. I wish ther

What’s the general consensus of Tapo cameras?

Detection on the solar cameras has an incredibly short range and is slow and unreliable. The solar cameras are heavily biased towards saving the battery with very little control to change it. The wired cameras have better detection but still not great. The cameras do not work with each other or with
