Wifi man
If you can get Ethernet to other parts of your home I have had great luck with U6 long range and a U6 Mesh Pro for the outside coverage. If you have a floor plan you can ask on the Ubiquiti subreddit for planning help. They do have a mesh mode but the speeds are around 200mbps for me. I need to run

Advice on first Unifi setup in 100 yr old house
plaster and lathe is brutal for wifi - those walls kill 5ghz fast. the u6 pro is fine but you might want the u6 long range instead since it has better penetration through dense materials. also consider mixing in a couple u6 mesh units for hallways. three to four aps sounds right but spread them out

Best Mesh Gear? Sick of Asus setup
Consider that your closed cupboard are part of the issue - wifi doesn't go through things well. But... You don't need mesh if you can use ethernet. So yeah, Ubiquiti UniFi. Since you have ethernet available for wiring the APs, this is the way to go. I'd suggest a UniFI Dream Router 7 and whatever AP

Wanting to switch but needing help with a solution
i'd go with the udr7 plus two u6 mesh units personally. the u6 mesh pros are designed exactly for shelf/table placement - that redbull can shape works great sitting out. the ux7s are nice but you lose some range without hardwire backhaul in mesh mode. for 2100 sq ft on two floors, udr7 on main floor

Easy question for extender?
i feel you on the spotty outdoor signal. had a similar issue with my backyard setup last summer. you could grab a Ubiquiti U6 Mesh and mount it just inside the sunroom near a window - it's weather-resistant enough for covered outdoor spaces. the U6 Mesh will mesh wirelessly with your U7 Pro XGs and

Thinking about ubiquiti
ran into this with an old brick row house. you dont need a gateway to start - just run the unifi network controller on your proxmox nuc and adopt the aps. your tp link poe switch will power them fine, no ubiquiti switch required. for desktop placement grab a u6 mesh or u7 pro wall - both sit nicely

Need a new mesh system.
Honestly, you should probably just stick with ubiquity. If hardwiring isn't feasible for whatever reason, that's fine. Most of their APs (except for very old ones) can run in radio-backhauled mesh mode. You lose a little horspower off the top of the AP, but that probably doesn't matter. Most people

4x4 Antennas advantage for meshing?
Good to know your experience. I have 6 or more of these Installed, but not for mesh…just for form factor. I’ve always complained about the name because it causes people to think other APs can’t mesh or the U6 Mesh is ONLY for mesh..,which it isn’t, of course. Ubiquiti says “6 spacial streams” for be

Equipment to improve wireless mesh
That seems like an interesting possibility. The U6 Pro spec mentions 6 spatial streams. The U6 Mesh has the same and Ubiquiti mentions the 6 spatial streams as offering superior mesh ability on the U6 Mesh. Since they are very similar in specs, the U6 Pro (or two) might do a better job than the UX a

Upgraded FIOS Internet and TV - New Equipment setup with Unifi USG (and eventually a Dream Machine if this works) and Access Points...Help!!!
To make sure I’m understanding this: Basement - ONT > WAN Port of Verizon Router > LAN port Verizon Router to Living Room with nothing connected to it? IF the tech said you can connect to the extender via Coax OR Ethernet and you have time to try this: Disconnect the coax from the cable box, connect
