First knife set recommendations?

I would start with an 8 inch victorinox chef knife, and a cheap paring knife. The Victorinox will probably last for like 40 years.

What does blade quality really mean?

No worries. I'd like to clarify that there's a lot that goes into the price of blades. Then you have middle of th

Help for a beginner

This video shows some popular 1000 grit stones, along with the Chosera 400, and how they vary in scratch pattern and finished edge. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7phkBKET0xI As far as knives, the Takamura SG2 170 Santoku is a great cutting ultra thin laser. Is Wüsthof Classic a good pick for first set of "good" knives?

Buying a set is generally considered a waste of money by knife experts. All the advice I'm about to give comes from the book An Edge In The Kitchen by Chad Ward and from youtubers. Here are the knives you need. Get these in good quality and nothing else: 8in chef knife [$50-150] Serrated bread knife

Barecookware Bifl?

Broodmes, 8

Need help with Knife and Sharpening please!

I've found that Mercer is actually a better deal than Victorinox. One stone is all you'll actually need, but traditionally two stones are used to fine tune the knife's edge. The money you save by purchasing the Mercer can be applied to an extra stone. I own well over 30 culinary knives, including Ya

“Healthy” Obsession

I found a Victorinox Fibrox 8 inch breaking knife for I think $17. So I bought it. Man that thing was unbelievably sharp right out of the, uh, cardboard sleeve? There was no box or plastic display package. Anyway, it would shave my whole arm in one swipe! It’s a great knife.
