Depends on the workload; we don't have a lot of workloads left that call for 2.5" SATA, but (as a business) we'll pay extra now for Kingston DC600 and Solidigm (Intel) D3-series. For actual consumer, WD Blue SA510 is generally okay unless we stumble on an infrequent sale with the WD RED SA500.

What’s the best option to have media stored on

This is a 2280 "style" SSD With an M.2 SATA (B+M) key These ones should be a decent upgrade. Best 2tb ssd for h500 hub?
For sata ssds, they are all basically the same. The only real difference you will come across is if it has dram (technically better) or not. The 870 has dram, I went with one with dram (WD Blue SA510). At max throughout with 16 cameras you're only looking at about 64 mb/s. Well under the max through
