Installing ZorinOS and upgrading my old laptop.
The biggest performance upgrade IMO is replacing the HDD with a SSD. Watch out for cheap SSDs though, they likely will not have a DRAM cache, the unbranded or obscure branded ones particulary. Personally I'd always go for a known performance brand with a DRAM cache, e.g. Samsung 870 EVO or WD Blue S

Storage help
Yes, then this is the relevant video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UHNIrmMgE5s You can see on 2:10 to 2:14 that the drive is removed. You need to buy a larger M.2 SATA drive and replace it. One like this: https://www.amazon.com/Red-SA500-NAS-NAND-Internal/dp/B07YFGXPQ2 . It needs to be SATA, not

where do i download firmware for a wd850x drive? i can not find anything on the support page...........
If you know that that specific upgrade affects your specific drive and that a firmware upgrade solves the problem, then do so. Otherwise, I wouldn't bother. Ask Woody is a good resource for this. It mentions that upgrade, but only that it affects WD Blue SA510 2TB SATA drives. And it only seems to b

Budget SSD választás home-made NAS-hoz?

So long Crucial... thanks for the fishes
Depends on the workload; we don't have a lot of workloads left that call for 2.5" SATA, but (as a business) we'll pay extra now for Kingston DC600 and Solidigm (Intel) D3-series. For actual consumer, WD Blue SA510 is generally okay unless we stumble on an infrequent sale with the WD RED SA500.

What’s the best option to have media stored on
kinda been down this road. i ran raid 5 for a while but the seek times for random episodes drove me nuts. what helped me was grabbing a Samsung T7 Shield for my current series and leaving the archive on spinning rust. if your whole library fits on a 2tb drive the WD Blue SA510 is cheap and handles d

Which ssd is this and what can I replace it with?
This is a 2280 "style" SSD With an M.2 SATA (B+M) key These ones should be a decent upgrade. However due to the ongoing supply-chain issues involving RAM, CPU/GPU Dies, and Storage be prepared to pay a premium. https://shop.sandisk.com/products/ssd/internal-ssd/wd-blue-sa510-sata-m-2-ssd?sku=WDS250G

Did I screw myself with this WD Blue drive?
The 2TB SA510 uses a different(better) controller and is a better drive than the lower capacity SA510 drives. The lower capacities uses a WD controller that was pretty bad. WD literally used the controller on just the WD Blue SSDs and then abandoned it...I wonder why... The 2TB version uses a Silico

Best 2tb ssd for h500 hub?
For sata ssds, they are all basically the same. The only real difference you will come across is if it has dram (technically better) or not. The 870 has dram, I went with one with dram (WD Blue SA510). At max throughout with 16 cameras you're only looking at about 64 mb/s. Well under the max through
