I was just gifted a Kindle Fire HD 8 can I use it as an E reader?
Technically, this is not a Kindle, but Amazon Fire HD (tablet). Having said that, you can still absolutely use this as a Kindle! (I used to use mine like that) As the other comment suggests, the best alternative to the Kindle app (if you don't want to use an Amazon account) would be Redeara. You can

Dumb phone I can still use to clock in for work???
Inexpensive tablet was my idea as well. Get a TCL Flip 2 for 60 bucks on Amazon for phone needs. Get a Fire HD 8 tablet from Amaon for 60 bucks as well. Use the TCL as a hotspot for the tablet.

What's a cheap Android tablet that works well for Katana control?
I'm lookng to buy a basic new Android tablet purely for control of my Katana 50, series 1.What would be a good tablet for that? I know that not all Android tablets work as it would need On The Go support and a new enough version of the OS.I'm thinking a 7 inch would be enough, as the Katana apps see

CarPlay on a Amazon Fire Tablet - under £100!
After contemplating for a while whether to remove my stereo in my car and replace it with a third party CarPlay compatible stereo, I’ve decided against it. First of all, CarPlay compatible headunits are expensive and even though I have a Masters in Mechanical and Electrical Engineering

How I keep my 2015 Kindle Fire HD 8 as my daily driver
I still use my 6 year old Kindle Fire HD 8 every single day, almost all day - despite a cracked and beat up case and its slow processor. I use it mainly as a consumption device but I still run many apps to chat and share and edit apps.
First thing is to always install the Play store. There are man

Simple continuous always on peephole camera
Odds are high your family member has a smart phone. This can run through the smart phone with notifications. Alternatively, you can pick up a Kindle Fire for about $100 USD and that will work with the Ring doorbell:https://www.amazon.com/Fire-HD-8-Tablet-Black-32GB/dp/B0CVDN4QS6/?th=1

Can a Fire HD 8 Tablet handle PDFs via USB
Yes, the Fire HD tablets can handle pdf's. I have a HD11 and my insurance sent me pdf documents after and it can open without problems.
