How Fast Are On-Device LLMs on iPhone 17 Pro and iPad Pro?
TL;DR: I ran 6 quantized LLMs on Russet which uses Apple's first-party MLX framework on an iPhone 17 Pro and iPad Pro M5, both with 12GB RAM. LFM2.5 1.2B at 4-bit hits 124 tokens/sec on iPad and 70 tokens/sec on iPhone. iPad Pro is 1.2x–2.2x faster depending on model and prompt length, with the gap

Just got an iPad m4 for 10 dollars with some trade ins, now my iPad is more powerful than my macbook. Why did I spend 1100 on an m1 macbook in 2020 😔
I have an M1 air. And an M5 iPad Pro. Almost the same as you. I don’t see a reason to upgrade the M1 air just yet. Apple Silicon is hard to beat. Cuz on my battle station I run a Dell XPS with an i7, a Chromebook with a Ryzen 3 7000 and the M1 Air. I do similar things with all of them. And different

The M5 iPad Pro has made me fall in love with Apple all over again.
Same! I had a iPad mini 2nd gen back in 2012, hardly did anything more than read. Sold it like a year later. Then I bought an iPad Pro m5 in October… I then lost control and bought AirPods Max, MacBook Pro, Mac mini, Apple TV, and Apple Pencil 😭😭 I’m retiring for a few years

How capable is the iPad Pro M5 for gaming? 🎮 I’m talking about both AAA games and casual games. Do you guys think it can compete with handheld gaming devices or even consoles in the future? Feel free to share your thoughts too!
I have a lot of thoughts on this topic. I have an M5, 13”, 2TB. I also own a Steam Deck LCD 2TB, a Legion Go (fuck Lenovo) a Switch/Lite, an RP4 Pro as well as a ton of other retro devices, the new GPD Win 5, 4TB, 64GB and a Z13 Flow 2026 as well as a big ass PC. No flex, just saying I have many opt

iPad Pro M5 11” -Taking a Leap Without Overthinking
Pitaka MagEZ Case 2 protects it on 3 unprotected sides (the bottom in landscape mode is exposed to give room for the Magic Keyboard hinge). I didn't like the yellow color and couldn't find the black one on Amazon, so I got a similar case by Spigen that also has a holder for the Apple Pencil to preve

Wait or Hunt it
IPad Air is never getting oled screen, you have a choice between oled in pro or 60hz in iPad Air , the difference is in £€$ hard cash . M5 iPad Pro & m4 iPad Air both have 12GB it’s a simple choice to pay a lot more for premium oled screen or ipad Air IPad Air is mid price because it doesn’t have ol

Lag when writing on Ipad
I think is a problem of ipados 26. Any app which does not use Apple API lags with the pencil, except for iPad pro m5. I tested many apps with my iPad air, and this is consistent. At a local store, I tried ipad mini, air, a16 and pro, and only the pro does not lag with notability, goodnotes and other

iPad Pro cover
I have the Logitech combo touch for my 13” M5 iPad Pro and I think it’s great. Seems durable. Has an Apple pen cutout. Keyboard detaches while the iPad itself still has a back cover with a kick stand. Feels nice. Keys feel good and trackpad actually is usable. I honestly like it better than the Appl

Nano-texture iPad Pro with heavy Apple Pencil use - how is it holding up?
I’ve seen posts about screen protectors like paperlike getting worn down from heavy pencil use, but the nanotexture display is etched into the glass display itself. A rubber pencil tip should have no effect. Now if the tip breaks and you’re running metal across the screen, that’s a different story.
