Do I need ssd heatsink for barebones Asus nuc?
I have an ASUS NUC 15 Pro. Do not get an SSD heatsink, you won't be able to close it. The bottom of the unit opens up to put your RAM and M.2 drives. On that panel that opens, there is a pre-applied thermal pad. There's no need for a heatsink.

AMA w/ ASUS Mini PC Team to Discuss the ASUS NUC 16 Pro and ASUS ExpertCenter PN55 4/10 12PM-2PM PDT
10G networking and two M.2 2280 slots would be nice. I really don’t like the mixed M.2 sizes on the ASUS NUC 15 Pro.

[Advice] Thinking about switching from laptop to Mini PC
For your budget and photoshot needs, go with Asus NUC 15 Pro barebones with Intel Ultra 7 255H. The single core CPU works great for photoshop. Also, similar drivers as your Asus Zenbook laptop. You can add 2 sticks of DDR5 RAM and 1 TB of SSD storage later. You will need to download your OS to a USB

[Advice] Thinking about switching from laptop to Mini PC
Thank you so much for the detailed suggestion! I hadn't looked into the Asus NUC 15 Pro but it actually sounds like a great fit, especially since I already have an Asus Zenbook and would probably feel at home driver-wise. That Ultra 7 255H looks very appealing for Photoshop and general multitasking,

Seeking: MiniPC/SBC with PCIE 5 +2 nvme current gen cpu
Had not run into the Evo-T1. That said it looks like the final vesion has no PCIE 5.0, 3x NVMe 4.0 and an occulink aint shabby, but a hair short. Also looks like they went with H series Core 200, not V for the final design. Which actually I prefer but so close. I'd rate this on par with the near mis

Mini PC with windows?
We will need your budget and if any of those games are high graphic AAA games. Most mini-PCs are built for 1080p resolution EA shooter games, racing games, and retro games. Some highly optimized AAA games work well. Example: Doom Eternal: The Dark ages is possible at 1080p screen resolution, medium

ASUS NUC 15 Pro with tall chassis is advertised as having a 2.5" drive bay but I cant find any way to access it if it even exists. Any ideas?
I was just about to purchase this unit over the July 4th holiday weekend when I came across this thread. I have an older NUC and having the SATA port for a 2.5" SSD drive is a cheap way to expand storage. Not having that or the option to have a full-sized second M.2 port (without an add-on) is a dea

ASUS NUC 15 Pro with tall chassis is advertised as having a 2.5" drive bay but I cant find any way to access it if it even exists. Any ideas?
I asked ASUS as this matter concerned me, and I got a reply. The NUC 15 Pro no longer supports 2.5" SATA drives. Personally, this change is a deal breaker. I know the other M.2 port can be given an adapter to support the longer 2280 M.2 drive, but it just feels like a weird hack. At the moment, the

Seeking: MiniPC/SBC with PCIE 5 +2 nvme current gen cpu
True enough. But access to 4x4 lane 4.0 PCIe without forgoing wifi isn't too shabby in the package. Maybe some hope for a later bios update to turn 1-2 of those into 5.0 as has happened with some devices? Doesnt have the shortcoming of one of the nvme slots being a 2242 either. So a decided argument

Should I build a PC or just grab a mini PC
Better option is the Asus NUC 15 Pro with the Intel Ultra 7 255H CPU. Get the bare bones version, and add the RAM and SSD for a lower total cost. Between $100 to $150 less. Keep in mind, you will need to download a fresh install of Windows 11 Pro from a USB Type A stick.
