Any good basic just.. “good router” I can buy?

How much area do you need to reach with wifi? You should probably think about getting a WiFi 6 or Wifi 7 router at this time to be ready for the net generation of devices. I like the ASUS routers as their web interface is really easy to use and they include a lot of nice admin features if you care a

New customers...so far so good

Here are the options: Best: Two mesh wifi routers with Ethernet cable between them. Better: Two mesh wifi routers (no cable) Good: one higher end router (more coverage) I prefer Asus routers like BE86U but many people will recommend TP Link ones. Alternatively, you try if beacon 6 good enough.

Looking for which of these ASUS routers to get ?

Do you need a 10GB WAN/LAN port (on the RT-BE86U)? If not, get the RT-BE82U. BE82U has max 2.5GB WAN and LAN ports, which should be fine for most people and seems to be more than enough for your requirements. Most of the other specs are the same or similar (1GB RAM on both; BE86U has slightly faster

Give me the good/bad/ugly on the Asus RT-BE86U

I replaced my ancient AC-68U with an ASUS RT-BE86U and in the mean time, sent it back. Either for repair or for a refund. For a device that is about 12 years newer, it was just awful. It was actually worse than the old Asus router: Many devices often lost the connection (tables, raspis, phones, tvs,

Looking for new(ish) consumer WiFi router suggestions

(Part 1/2) How large is the residence that needs WiFi coverage? On how many floors (looks like just two)? Are you interested in WiFi 6E or WiFi 7? What's your budget? I'll assume a maximum of $300 USD. I'll focus on WiFi 7 below, but if you specify additional requirements I could share additional re

Wifi not reaching half of my apartment or my smart TV sitting in the same room.

Verizon’s gateway/router sucks as a router. I have my gateway in bridge mode and use an asus RT-BE86U as my actual router. I went from spotty coverage and like 50 download 10 upload to 400 download 300 upload and no coverage issues once I started using the asus router instead

Does Asus RT-BE86U have issues with 2.4 GHz WiFi?

Could you improve the situation? I got an RT-BE86U as well and the range and reliability is a joke, my 12 year old previous Asus router is faster, more reliable and has almost double the range.

AI Mesh RT-AX86U

If you'd like to stick with ASUS and are considering a router upgrade, the RT-BE86U is the successor (WiFi 7) model of the RT-AX86U (WiFi 6). Here's a comprehensive review: https://www.tomshardware.com/networking/routers/asus-rt-be86u-wi-fi-7-router-review- Since you will be connecting the routers t

Are there any Linux based, open source alternative replacements, for "Smart TV" operating systems?

Usually, updates have various firmware improvements that may affect image and sound quality. They also have various security patches, that may come in handy as I frequently connect USB drives packed full of media to my "Smart TV's" and even though I meticulously run scans with antivirus/antimalware
