Any good basic just.. “good router” I can buy?
How much area do you need to reach with wifi? You should probably think about getting a WiFi 6 or Wifi 7 router at this time to be ready for the net generation of devices. I like the ASUS routers as their web interface is really easy to use and they include a lot of nice admin features if you care a

Questions about Router options and features
Yes, other routers have much more functionality than yours. I use Asus routers with Asuswrt-Merlin, and it's incredibly powerful. I can set up three "guest networks" each for 2.4GHz and 5GHz. I have one set up for cameras and IoT devices - they can reach my Home Assistant server and DVR, but they ca

Should I buy an Asus BE86U over the AX86U Pro to ensure longer life of firmware updates?
I got a RT-BE86U last February for this very reason, my older router fell off the update schedule from Asus, so I have demoted it to an access point, and got the BE86U for the main router. I like it, it works fine. My only complaint is that it doesn't support Jumbo Frames on the 4 port LAN. It is a

Can anyone recommend a good router for gaming and light WiFi usage.
I’ve had good luck with ASUS. The app is user friendly with easy access to parental controls. I have a few of them. As I upgraded my main router I just switch the old to wired mesh nodes. What ever you get a dual band , 2.4 and 5ghz, is usually enough. There aren’t a lot of devices that use the 6ghz

Wifi Router With Vlans
I’ve used newer ASUS models and their VLAN solution - fairly easy to use and master. I would recommend the RT-BE86U (or RT-AX86U Pro if you don’t want/need WiFi 7) to get your feet wet. I’m currently on a Unifi setup - you can get very granular, and it can get very complicated very quickly if you do

Consoles only getting 30mbps download on Rogers gigabit router
First off confirm the speed by plugging a laptop directly into one of the LAN ports on the Router and running a speed test. Speedtest.net. If you are getting 1gbit great! Otherwise talk to Rogers again and tell them you’re not getting your advertised speeds while hardwired. 2nd, if the speeds check

Which router should I pick? Light gaming/remote work/4 people
I'm using the 1800s as a node and my main router is the RT-BE86U. I can say that the 1800s is holding up super well as a node. I recommend the ASUS.

can i skip the 2.5 gear and stick with 1gb gear -- and will i retain my 1.5gb service from my ISP?... or do I need to get 2.5 gear to see all 1.5... in an ideal world I realize xfi throttles data as they see fit You cannot get 1.5mbps throughput if your router and switch(es) only support 1GbE.
