Is this a good setup for my server?

Since you mentioned it’s mainly for media streaming. Get an intel gpu with integrated graphics over any AMD chip. Quicksync will benefit you so much, AMD (even dGPU’s) are much worse than Intel’s iGPU. If you ever plan on expanding with say immich, the argument would even be enhanced. I would recomm

CWWK Q670 warning dont buy

If you bought it from AliExpress then you can file a return with them directly and cut CWWK out of the picture. Also that board is pretty common so I expect there is an issue with the second memory slot. You got unlucky. Just a pity that CWWK are messing you around. I’ve had issues with CWWK boards

Box for OPNSense use. I'm a doubter.

I went with CWWK Mini PC N100 Firewall Hardware 2 x 10GbE SFP+, 2 x i226V 2.5GbE LAN. I had to add my own SSD and RAM, but both of which I had lying around anyway, so it was put to use. I have a 2 gig fiber connection, and it never bottlenecks it. Not doing a whole lot with it, just some VPN and dyn

Is this a good setup for my server?

No, it's still a NAS. What you would be building is a NAS. SAS is a different type of connection capable of higher speeds, 12GB/s whilst SATA is 6GB/s. Now in a NAS, you're not going to notice this, at all. It's simply the protocol. An SAS HBA (Host Bus Adapter) would simply allow the use of cheaper

What's the cheapest, low power, fanless MiniPC for relatively light tasks (I think?) (no games etc).

im am using one of those fanless firewall-pcs as proxmox host. my model has a pentium 8505, but you can also get them even cheaper with an n100/n150 cpu. the fanless cases are usually sufficient unless you try to mine bitcoin on it or similar, then it will get too hot. i have a 140mm fan with very l

Anyone try these aliexpress boards?

Look at CWWK’s boards. I use this similar one and I’m happy with it. Topton sells CWWK boards.

N150 vs i7-6700k

To quote Hamlet "“There are more things in Heaven and Earth, Horatio, than are dreamt of in your philosophy.” Ok, so I will take your question of "OMG, why?" in good faith and assume you don't mean it to be rhetorical. Why on earth would you spend $200+ on a quad NVME adapter, The card was $100US an

Need help finding the right motherboard / handling SFP+

You could use the newer CWWK board. It has a PCIe 3.0 x4 slot. Then add a SFP+ NIC.
