DDR4 RAM - are there better barebones options than the AMD 5825u based MiniPCs?

Thanks for confirming what I already suspected. I was really happy with my Gmktec M5 Plus. I'm using it in an arcade with two monitors - a traditional display port monitor and a USB powered monitor running with HDMI for video. I was powering it from a USB A port on the Gmktec but one day swapped it

Small homelab addition

Here I read their hardware is sh*t I feel you. Truth of the matter when somebody shows up on Reddit, it's rarely glorification, only problems. Most of the time when someone posts about appreciation, it often comes across as a paid advertisement 😊 Damned if you do, damned if you don't. Here's the sco

Beelink vs GMKtec | which is better?

I have an M5 Plus and am satisfied. Only 2 things I would comment: (1) it does not come with any instructions on how to pop it open (not even pictures). You must pry open the top lid (the one with the GMKtec logo) and then you'll see the four screws. There are NOT screws under the four rubber feet,

Need second thoughts on GMKtec Nucbox M5 Plus for software development.

For Linux software development, the Barceló Zen 3 5825U is definitely well established, while finding very few complaints pertaining to the NucBox M5 Plus. Some owners have swapped out the MediaTek MT7921K Wi-Fi card for a more dependable Intel AX200, with that being the most common issue. Bottom li

Gmktec m7 and m5

This is correct. The only things in common between the GMKtec M7 and M5 is the brand, 16 thread CPU, two RAM slots, and dual 2.5GB ethernet which is barely anything. If they were the same computer, they would have the same name. Their differences are size, different 6850H vs 5825U or 5700U CPU, diff

Best MIni PCs To Buy in 2025/2026

I think you're missing a category: best low-TDP server. GMKTec M5 Plus/Ultra is a strong contender here. High core/thread to TDP ratio. Dual 2.5GB NICs. Multiple NVMe slots. I have one M5 Pro (discontinued) and 3 M5 Plus in my homelab, and I'd have six of them if I didn't have a couple of towers wit

Is this a good deal?

Then yeah, good deal, the only thing it's really missing is the second USB port that similar models (e.g. GMKTec M5 Plus) have.

Any good deals on MiniPC for emulation right now?

Know numerous individuals with NucBox M5 Plus mPCs as basic "daily drivers", with no significant complaints. MT7921K Wi-Fi card & 40mm case fan are the two most common issues, if any. Have helped a couple of owners lite mod to support SFF-8612 i4 OCuLink I have to add an inexpensive eGPU, so that's
