Income & high-end system

If you aren't loving the KEF Q metas in your current space, I would not recommend you spending significantly more for a new setup. Outspending an unknown problem is not a good solution. Try to look at it a different way. Spending to upgrade something you dont love, will never give as much satisfacti

Passive bookshelf speaker recommendations?

Well, since your Sony only has bass and treble controls for sound shaping, you should look at speakers with a pretty consistent in-room response out of the box. Finally got stands for Q Concerto Meta

Late to the party but the SQ1’s are the stands that Kef lists as being for the Q Concerto Meta so you’d think the stands would have mounting holes to match holes in the speakers.

Bookshelf speakers my mother could tolerate? $1.5-3k budget

KEF Q Concerto Meta might also be something to look at. KEF's seem to be designed to work well close to the front wall, which is a point in their favor.

New system 3.0 / 3.1 / 2.1

I think sub, two standmount speakers and center speaker are the way to go for movie use in your case. Dialogue clarity is likely best improved by adding some acoustical paneling into the room, it is less about the speakers and more about how quickly the sound dies out in the room. You should look in

Q6 Meta LCR application

3-way WTMW (concentric or not) designs are still just a bandaid on the true problem with MTM designs. Comb filtering will still be there. You are right though that it will likely be minimal with the Q6 Meta's 6.5" woofers, but the low pass filter is at 560Hz for the woofers, which isn't bass territo
