So this is a little step-by-step guide on how to get started simply without doing too much work or spending too much money but still feeling good about what you've accomplished... buckle up buckaroos, this is gonna be a long one! I suggest starting with something simple and inexpensive, like a hotsw

v5 max vs v6 max vs anything else?

Keychron has a 96% "K" board that is tray-mounted so doesn't risk board/plate flex ejecting any switches. Other options: Monsgeek M2 v5 VIA ($100) Redragon K742 * ($56 with coupon) Nuphy

Looking for a 96% board with a knob

for long writing sessions, the Keychron V5 Max is a good pick. The gasket mount gives a nicer typing feel, which can help your hands over time... If you’re into tactile switches, the Jupiter Bananas could work, but classic Browns are always a safe bet for feel and smoothness. Check out keyboardyeti
