Are “audiophile” level speakers less durable? (For a bar)
Home hi-fi speakers have lower power handling than might be required for a bar. But it depends on the size of the place. Thats what PA systems are for. You could get away with using Klipsch speakers, that have more of a PA engineering to them. The RP-500M II and RP-600M II are nice looking and good

Which older tech is still better than whatever replaced it?
I got a Denon AVR-S760H and some Klipsch RP-500M II speakers they’re just two speakers and I’m running only those two as a L/R and it’s great!
