Are t480 really this good?

The advantage of the T480 vs the 14 inch models coming after it is the external battery and the two SODIMM slots. Two SODIMM slots will make a brief re-appearance in the T14 Gen 5 / P14s Gen 5, some T14 Gen 6 has them as well and that's it (but of course the LPCAMM2 slot in the Gen 7 is far superior

ThinkPad T14 Gen 5 daily users – how does it feel?

It is noticanle but completely fine. During inference, the memory controller sweats a lot, its temperature rises to ~55Celsius. So it creates a single warm spot on the keyboard. I have Intel U (meteorlake). For the inference on iGpu, choose AMD primarily because of the kernel graphic driver. Intel's

Linux hardware tier list

I upgraded to an AMD T14G5 from a T430. Got it used for like 750 USD. It only had 2 battery cycles on it :D

For battery life on linux in thinkpad t14 gen 6, which of these two processors do you think will do well?AMD Ryzen AI 5 PRO 340 or Intel Core Ultra 5 225U?

I optimized my intel 165U quite well for battery on linux. Wifi browsing for maybe 8 hours. Despite that I would recommend amd ryzen. Mightbe battery would be worse a small bit or two bits, but other than that it is more mature chip for overall real tasks. And more energy efficient for longer lastin

ThinkPad T14 Gen 5 daily users – how does it feel?

On maybe unnecessary background, and with apologies for longposting: I've had lots of ThinkPads and lots of Latitudes but the majority of my ThinkPad experience is from ~20 years ago and the majority of my Latitude experience is from the last ~10ish years. I had a bunch of new-and-used ThinkPads 200

ThinkPad T14 (Ultra 5 238V, 32GB soldered) worth it long-term?

Build quality of Lenovo isn't as great as it once wise. I had a T14 gen 5 and it felt cheap and had issues with the touchpad. Opted for the X1carbon with a dedicated fingerprint sensor, much better. Also no errors with the trackpad. But all at added cost. It addition, win 11 is absolutely garbage an

I bought a T480. Any advice on what I should do before using it?

It's one of the best units that soldered ram haters like me could get until the T14 Gen 5 starts getting dumped by companies and approach T480 cheap status, though the T14G5 has a soldered wifi card. Ordinary people may not care but few of us do, even if soldered ram screwing up (mobo replacement) i

Any opinions on the T14 Gen 5 AMD?

I have this laptop, originally purchased with the lousy screen. A month ago, I bought the OLED panel assembly from Lenovo and upgraded it. I love it now, but had to set the screen to 60hz to save battery life. IMO, the battery life on this model has always been lousy, and the OLED definitely uses mo

What is the best thinkpad for daily use?

For my daily use i own T14 gen 5 (AMD). My GF got E14 gen 7 (Intel) and i must say I am surprised how good the E14 is. The only really noticeable differences in favour of T14g5 are: keyboard (backlighting and replacability) screen (a little bit better) Otherwise the E14g7 is much better in many ways

I am stuck between two displays. Which one to buy?

I would be running image editing and design software quite a bit so the display is important. So do you need the P3 colorspace or not? Seems pretty straightforward to me. T14G5 and P14sG5 Intel are two completely different machines. Latter is more powerful than the former even if similarly spec'ed d
