ThinkPad T14 Gen 5 daily users – how does it feel?

It is noticanle but completely fine. During inference, the memory controller sweats a lot, its temperature rises to ~55Celsius. So it creates a single warm spot on the keyboard. I have Intel U (meteorlake). For the inference on iGpu, choose AMD primarily because of the kernel graphic driver. Intel's

For battery life on linux in thinkpad t14 gen 6, which of these two processors do you think will do well?AMD Ryzen AI 5 PRO 340 or Intel Core Ultra 5 225U?

I optimized my intel 165U quite well for battery on linux. Wifi browsing for maybe 8 hours. Despite that I would recommend amd ryzen. Mightbe battery would be worse a small bit or two bits, but other than that it is more mature chip for overall real tasks. And more energy efficient for longer lastin

ThinkPad T14 (Ultra 5 238V, 32GB soldered) worth it long-term?

Build quality of Lenovo isn't as great as it once wise. I had a T14 gen 5 and it felt cheap and had issues with the touchpad. Opted for the X1carbon with a dedicated fingerprint sensor, much better. Also no errors with the trackpad. But all at added cost. It addition, win 11 is absolutely garbage an

What makes you love your Thinkpad?

Between personal and company, I had 10 laptops or so. Dell, HP, Asus. My T14G5 just works. That's it. Whatever I throw at it, it works. I never had such a seamless and easy experience installing linux as in this laptop. I tried really hard to find anything wrong with it, the best I came up with was

New T14 gen 6!

Found one for about 1,300 dollars. I'll buy it when there's a chance for me to mod it with a better screen. Because 268v with a 120 hz would definitely go better. I am not a huge OLED fan, an IPS would go just as well for me. The only problem is the compatibility issues that Lenovo firmware has as f

Good drop-protective case for T14 Gen 6?

https://www.lenovo.com/us/en/p/accessories-and-software/cases-and-bags/specialty-cases/78769255https://www.infocase.com/product/fm-snp-t14g5/ Lenovo sells these infocase cases on their website so I assume it fits well. Gen 5 and 6 are the same.

Would you swap your RX 9070 XT for a 5070 Ti if offered?

Reinterpreting this slightly as "would I take a 5070 for my 9070", my answer is still no. My server is all-Intel (Haswell-era Xeon with an ARC A380). My desktop (5800X3D) and laptop (ThinkPad T14G5 Ryzen 8840U) are all-AMD. Wouldn't have it any other way.

Make elitebook look like a ThinkPad?

I'd love to if ThinkPad didn't drop the ball on repairability and Linux compatibility for the last few generations. It feels wrong to buy a lower performing Intel t14g5 that's slower than the amd variant for the same money simply because of the poor decision to use Qualcomm. The elitebook is unfortu

Best ThinkPad T14 Specs for €2000?

16GB RAM is probably enough. For modern web browsers on Windows? Not really. I wouldn't buy anything under 32GB (or upgradeable) for that kind of money these days. Luckily the T14G5 has dual SO-DIMM slots, so if you go with that you should be fine. As for Snapdragon... that entirely depends if your

T14 gen5 Ultra 7 155U or Ryzen 7pro 8840U

GPU issues? Multi screen? Could you elaborate? As someone typing this on a P14sG3 AMD I would go Intel if I was getting a T14G5 - the AMD stuff (and Qualcomm WiFi) is still a surprising struggle if you want everything working perfectly.
