Best laptop under €700?

The m1 MacBook Air can be got for under €700 which is a serious enough laptop for the money. I don’t use Mac though I use windows, you’d get a nice X13 series Lenovo Thinkpad tough for that money either. Fairly robust as well as I use mine out in the field.

Repairable and (relatively) small laptop?

What do you mean by repairable? For several years now thinkpads have soldered ram, type c connectors that are so bad, Lenovo had to extremely over engineer in one of the latest models in hopes it won’t lose contact. Anyway, x13 series is the portable one. I have x13 gen 2, I like it. I’ve seen some

Best X series build?

I am also big fan of X series. I have 2 x270, one x390, another x13 gen 1 amd, really rocks and a x13 gen 4. And I am waiting for a x13 gen3 core i7 with 32 GB of ram. Now it is a lot of good priced x13 gen 3. And I agree with you, x270 has a different (better) feeling

T14s vs T490s vs T495s

X390 build quality is excellent. Additionally the keyboards are super cheap if you'll buy a damaged or worn out one. And it's super easy to replace them. X13 is tighter, hotter but they also have Mg-Al chassis. X13 was using 10th gen Intel CPU, but they are as fast as these 8th gen ones used in X390

Is it a good deal? (ThinkPad L14 Gen 1)

Decent price for a nice machine. L14 G1 AMD (from 2020) sort of a cheaper built T14 G1 AMD, with a slightly lower quality display, but with dual RAM slots (T14 8GB/16GB fixed + 1 slot). Both RAM, and WiFi cards swap-able. Official W11 support. Possibly user replaceable keyboard also. I know L14 G2 d

Is this OK or pass

With portability a priority, search ThinkPad X13 G2 AMD or Intel. RAM fixed so avoid 8GB consider 16GB or 32GB only. Far more capable chipsets than Intel 10th Gen, with decent battery life, compact well made chassis, and a really nice color accurate display as standard. Most other ThinkPad models, a
