Minisforum MS-S1 MAX Review
I'm still annoyed at how Minisforum names these MS-XX units. They don't have any continuity. MS-01: Intel, mobile CPU MS-A1: AMD, desktop CPU MS-A2: AMD, mobile CPU MS-S1: AMD, mobile CPU, AI Why was MS-A2 using a mobile CPU? Wouldn't it have been better if they named it something else and kept MS-A

Windows 11 install speed difference between Dell R630 vs Miniforum MS-A1
List it on locally or eBay as the R630 vintage still has some value. To be fair the R630 can do things that the MS-A1 can't do. It has a lot of PCIe lanes, it can run 1.5TB of ECC RAM and many drives, along with iDRAC for remote management. It's more about using the right tool for the job.

Minisforum support is useless – need PLP NVMe recommendations for Proxmox ZFS mirror on MS-A2
I have used the Micron 7400 Max 2280 and Micron 7450 Pro in 2280 format. Excellent drives but not suitable for this form factor. Cautionary note: these drives run EXTREMELY HOT as they are designed for server airflow and power envelopes. These drives will not fare well in the closed environment of t

$400 Mini that works with m2 Oculink adapter
I can absolutely recommend DeskMini x600/USB4 (or without USB4 as well). see my post . I would like to say, that I've initially got MS-A1, with the 8700G inside. I did not like the noise level of CPU fan, even for the most basic tasks, copying files or browsing. I mean, those fan is ridiculously sma

MS-A1 + 9800X3D + Oculink experience
Effectively what you have is an expensive deconstructed ITX desktop that takes up MORE desk space, but with poorer cooling and CPU power limits imposed by the small form factor chassis along with the inherent downsides of Oculink as a display connection technology. I'm a fan of the MS-A1 on it's own

Minisforum MS-A1- Issues
This is exactly the experience that I am having with my 5070 in the DEG1 (secure boot problems, prompting PIN reset every Windows boot). For me it exhibits as the TPM 2.0 not being able to start with the 5070. I tested with an Arc B580, and RTX 4080 Super - they do not have this problem. Now that we

BD770I Thoughts
I own two of their machines. Having a setting in the BIOS for TDP is needed. I've talked to support about this and waiting for a BIOS update, especially for the MS-A1. My version has a 9950X chip.

Minisforum MS-01 Stopped powering on
I also have 2 units that did the exact same thing. I have both 12900H and a 13900H that were running proxmox then after getting flakey with updates they died with the blinking shorted power supply symptom. the 12900H was main unit and i swapped it for the 13900H. now I have a MS-a1 that hopfully las

Curious - is it all just about efficiency?
I have a small space to host my environment. It has to live under the stairs with not much in the way of ventilation, so low power and low heat is the priority. Partner doesn't like noise, so low fans too. I have in fact recently downgraded and downsized too. I used to have an MS-A1 with an Oculink

which one would genuinely run sims 4 better?
I am standing behind you on this, the user did edit his comment and even then it is vague which of the many minisforun units was behind described. The MS-A1 for example can install a R9-7950X and is not suitable for Cyberpunk 2077 except for some extremely creative low expectations. That said, I am
