Is the Z50 II the right upgrade from a D3400?

The z50II is closer to a d500 than a d3400 by far. Nikon just stop making real entry level crops (there's the z30, but that doesn't even have an evf)

Looking for a mirrorless for everyday photos & astrophotography on a tight budget

Nikon Z30 is a bit of a vlogging oriented camera, so take a look at Nikon Z50 - one big negative thing about this camera is that it doesnt have an intervalometer port for remote trigger. But if you will shoot untracker, you wont exceed 30sec exposure time anyway. EDIT: Sony ZV-E10 would also be a ve

Is Nikon Z the best camera series or am I missing something?

I've been shooting with Nikons for 18 years, and I love my Z8. But currently, I don't think there's enough of a difference in the performance between Canon, Nikon and Sony on the top end of the market to make a compelling case to switch, particularly if your focus is on taking photos rather than com

Updates! The Ultimate Z Series Remote Control App (ZR Ctl)

Tested on my Z30 in both direct (camera AP) mode and via bonjour. Works, and the view is responsive. Not many features or adjustments are available on the Z30, though. I can adjust ISO, but trying to tweak anything else hangs it. Some camera settings (most notably shutter speed) don't populate in th

Digital Camera with Flip Screen Recommendations

The SB-800 is fully iTTL and CLS compatible. Actually, it's fully compatible with every Nikon from the F to the Z9 with the maximal automation on each body. The only missing feature is radio controlled CLS that's only found in the SB-5000. It'd be hilariously topheavy on a Z30 though.

Shooting myself - Nikon Z30 + Sigma 30mm f/1.4 a good bet?

Yes, each camera maker nowadays has an app that can pair your phone with your camera, you could use this to enable autofocus, take photos, take video, change settings, etc. Usually it's a bit annoying compared to using the camera, but better than using an old school remote shutter release. Specifica

Should I get a Ricoh GR IV as a first camera, mainly for hiking landscape photos?

This might be the perfect post for you. It was popular a while back and also pinned by the mods. idk why they unpimmed it, because questions like this are asked everyday here. I use the Ricoh GR for hiking and landscape too. It's fine. Not beginner friendly at all, but I was already pretty experienc

Need help with ergonomics of Sony a6000

Also it's not like the battery life is absolutely terrible, it's the same as Canon R100, R50 and actually better battery life than the Nikon Z30, Z50 ii (and yeah it's actually shameful that a 12 year old Sony mirrorless has the same battery life as your relatively new offerings in 2026). The camera

Mounting adapter for a red dot sight on my camera

I was looking at buying a Nikon z30 mirrorless for $700 until I realized it didn't have a view finder. The z50 with the view finder is $1200. If this hack was a working alternative it could be interesting but I think I'd still have problems with framing.

Please Nikon make a Z7 III

Segmentation is more justified at the lower end of the market where $400 is a lot of money. There’s a lot of cameras Nikon could make. Z7iii, Zf with 45MP sensor, a high-end APS-C camera, etc. Zfc and Z30 are still waiting on EXPEED 7 updates, as well, and there’s probably a bunch of R&D work going
