Are any other Backpacks as comfortable as the Osprey AG system?
I love my Osprey Aura AG (circa 2015, fits different than the current model). I can comfortably carry up to about 45lbs, more than the pack is supposed to carry and 1/3 of my body weight, ie a little more than I’m supposed to carry at all. (I don’t carry that much for my own trips — only when workin

Backpacks instead of cruiser vests?
I vastly prefer backpacks for marking and layout work, as they allow me to comfortably carry more weight than a vest. Additional tools can be carried in the brain of the backpack, and I always keep a loggers tape attack to the hip belt. In my experience any 50-55L internal frame pack will do the job

Looking for an ideal backpack
From all of my heart I recommend Osprey and Deuter backpacks. You won't get wrong with them, just choose the right model for you - every model has its own purpose. One thing to add from me - I think both brands have, let's say - ultralight and normal versions of the similar model. Ultralight models

Completed the Three Kings Traverse in the Tararuas – 3 days on an exposed ridgeline
Osprey Atmos AG 50. 50L was plenty for a 3-day traverse carrying food and a full camp setup. Super comfortable Anti-Grav frame under load and stable on the steep ridgeline climbs. Salomon XT-6, Ran these for the entire traverse. Good grip on steep sections and handled the mix of dense bush, mud, and

New backpack suggestions
Osprey atmos AG 50, I cannot believe how much weight I can carry and it still doesn’t feel heavy on my back or shoulders. Built in waterproof cover too

Bag ulit, sorry
Atmos AG 50 is better. That extra 4k+ is for the tech, you'd be amazed pag nacompare mo vs non-AG. Ask for stock or if you can custom order (legit distributor only, which is rox). I'd go for stratos if I'm shaving extra Ls, like hosted meal trips or country backpacking, stratos 36L would suffice. If

Is a 60 L bag too big for an overnight?
That will work just fine. I used a 50L (Osprey Atmos 50) for my 3-Day in Dolly Sods, and it took some crafty packing. With a 60l you can just pack a tiny bit sloppier. Weight difference between a 50 and 60 would be negligible. And don't forget the excess can/will be tightened with the straps.

Bigger pack or smaller bag/quilt?
I traded my Osprey Atmos 50 for the bigger one after a similar experience. The larger packs also have detachable tops, so you have the option of going big, or leaving it off for a lighter pack.Another suggestion, and maybe you’ve done it anyway, is compression sacks. Get a few in different sizes, an

Two-bag carry-on setup — Shimoda X40 V2 as carry-on + Peak Design 30L as personal item, will it work?
This is a new setup for me, I used to have a big Muchila before (Osprey atmos ag 65L), which weighted around 15kg. It was just a lot of stuff that I didn’t really need, and I always had to check it in. So usually only the PD 30L was on me, which has my laptop & camera gear. For your question, I usua
