New firmwares for S5m2(x), S9 dropped
Debatable They vastly degraded the s5iix image quality with aggressive sharpening and NR post launch (firmware which can't be reversed) and later completely removed streaming functions which were heavily marketed and users specifically paid for with the s5iix over the s5ii Also every other update br

So, does this mean an MFT lens lineup revival?
Idk what camera you are using but my om-3 autofocus is a lot better than my Lumix s5ii and about 80% as good as my canon r8

Why is the G9ii more expensive than the S5ii?
S5ii is Panasonics entry level full frame camera made using quite an older sensor that. The g9ii is a more niche product but also a higher end model, just that its a m4/3 which some will see as a crippled camera. I personally would take gh7 over a s5ii anyday of the week

Selling my S1II after 3 months — disappointed with the image quality
I've been harping on Panasonic to fix their heavy spatial NR filtering they use on internal codecs for a long time. I noticed it starting with the S5iix on the first update in June 2023, I have a document written on it too. Unfortunately a huge downgrade after that update and it just looks very blan

Full circle, FX3 to S1 II then back to FX3.
Did pretty much the same thing a year ago with the Lumix S5ii. Got caught into hype and grass is greenered my way to Lumix. Missed Sony superior autofocus and customizing features. Sold my Sony kit at a loss for Lumix, realized Sony is my system, sold my Lumix kit at a loss, and bought back in to So

Problems with the S1II
The AF part- 100% my experience (with s5ii at least, the s1ii should be only tad better). The “wide zone +tap to track which actually works and doesnt loose subject” mode on sony is ideal for run&gun/ events and panasonic just makes you concentrate on checking if the focus didnt drifted off instead

Over-processed image of the S5iix / S1ii ?
By all accounts you can get a more organic image by shooting Pro-Res and Raw formats, but these come with huge file sizes. H264 and H265 file sizes are so much more reasonable for so many workflows - and I have also noticed the difference going from an S1 / S1H to an S5II. Up-voting this because its

what's with S1Rii having so much drama in youtube?
Its just weird how a, what was a photo centric camera gets passed of now as true hybrid. It leaves it in a weird place. Because the keynote mainly focussed on its video specs.. So most of the reviews are about video, while if lumix promoted it as a photo centric with great video options it would be

Is it unreasonable to keep Lumix (S5ii and S9) for video and buy a Canon R5 just for photography?
I've had some trouble with the S5ii AF, but that's because it locked onto the wrong subject, never because it was slow. Unless by "key moments" you mean something sudden and unexpected, which I have no experience of, it seems a bit strange. Barring the lens' performance (I only use Lumix glass, so I

Problems with the S1II
I have most Panasonic cameras but also the A7CII and the Z6III. I agree with you about the video processing in H265/H264/Prores. Since the S5II the video engine is pretty bad. The A7CII is just much better. What you said about the people skin is true, when cropping inside the videos, it has smoothed
