Why Use a Rangefinder?

historically the biggest reason to have them have been that they are just small cameras with small lenses while still producing the quality as good as other 35mm cameras. its still partly true to this day. the only competing cameras with rangefinders are either cameras without an evf and often lacki

What do you think of this new Cinema camera?

I shoot on Sigma FP L, pretty much the smallest full frame cinema camera existing, the autofocus on that thing is non existent, but it has electronic contacts for modern lenses, unlike this GoPro, I just don't know how your friend is going to use this thing.

Is there a better compact full frame camera than Sony a7cii?

the a7cr is the direct higher end version of the a7cii, buy for most people the sensor is probably overkill and the rest is the same. so for you a7cii might just be the best option. the canon r8 is cheaper, slightly lighter and arguably more ergonomic, they are pretty similar but the a7cii has ibis

Smallest camera to use my f-mount lenses with?

The absolute smallest would be the Sigma fp and an adapter. Everything would be manual though, and it's ridiculously unergonomic for this kind of use.

Lumix S9 or Sigma FP for everyday carry

I recommend YouTube. I spent a lot of time interested in Sigmas, FP, FPl, the new one. It seems to me almost entirely everyone I watch that even start out loving it moves on and has a lot of complaints.

Smallest non-s9 l mount?

Not a lumix body but the Sigma FP and Sigma FPL are l-mount and smaller. They have a lot of drawbacks but yeah just putting it on your radar if you didn’t already know about them!

RICOH gr thirtieth anniversary. After years of shooting film and taking too long of a break, I think it’s time to buy one.

I wish they’d make an update GXR! Would be amazing to use a sensor on par with the one in GR IV with M-mount lenses in that compact format. I’ve been sort of doing that with a Sigma fp L, but it’s a bit big/heavy still and not really a compact tbh

How does ISO truly work? I think I've gone full circle.

Ahh ok good I'm not going crazy. As I said above, I thought it looked weird so I googled and found this, written by Bill Claff.(The above chart is actually from his website: he's smart, and we've had a lot of discussions over the years): https://www.dpreview.com/forums/threads/sigma-fp-sensor-measur

Small L-mount (full frame) lens recommendations?

Really rough to find small lenses for L mount, best bet is probably Sigma's 'i' series, or adapted rangefinder glass (SLR glass the adapter is going to be large). Check out r/sigmafp for vintage glass ideas. There is also of course the manual focus fixed f/8 26mm Lumix

Shinobi II Technical Guide — Learn from the Experts

So, if Shinobi 2 is used with a camera without a Log output (e.g. Sigma FP shooting raw, a camera which actually has EL Zone built in), are you saying that EL Zone wouldn't even be available - this is one of the main features that attracts me to Shinobi 2? On the basis that you don't offer camera co
