Migrating from Synology: What would I probably be missing from DSM?

I switched from a DS1522+ to a Ugreen 4800plus running Unraid, and I can’t say I miss anything. Once you get past the small learning curve, it’s perfectly fine. Another option would be ARC Loader with Xpenology. I tested that before Unraid, and it worked perfectly. I’m not sure about the backup prog

So long Asustor, your software is horrendous

same feedback and feeling with as6604t... go work and came back 8 hours later, it is off... nfs randomly shutdown itself... password reset after firmware upgrade... the hell !!! my primary nas ds1522+ has never get an issue... I don't use any container on them ! storage only.

Might need to max out RAM once I get Docker / Containers fully up and running.

Yes, the Synology appears to be much more efficient. I run my Synology DS1522+ with it's max of 32GB of ram.

What I'm running on my DS1522+

Thank you for your reply and sounds like I am on the same journey you have been on! Touch wood, Tailscale just works perfectly and Ive not noticed any issues with latency or packet loss, only with Plex, but then again the DS1522+ was never designed to do that well. For the containers, I only use Por

First NAS + Local AI Setup — Synology vs UGREEN vs Others?

TBH, grab a Minisforum N5 Pro or another equivalent. Then you can run MUCH larger models on the Radeon 890M iGPU than on any consumer GPU. But you'd need a 3rd party OS (unraid or truenas usually) so overall don't expect any personalized support, not from Minis, certainly not from the OS developer.

Saan kayo nagbaback up ng pictures and files pag puno na ang memory ng cellphone niyo?

I got a DS1522+ which is a 5 bay. Tho as of now i only use 3 bays. This was 55k sa Shopee. Then 8300 per 12tb hdd Seagate Ironwolf. Shopee din. I suggest getting at least 3 bay para you can make use of the RAID function. Meaning if one drive crashes or gets corrupted, everything is recoverable. Down

Recommendations welcome for a NAS in a 10" rack

i was in this same spot last year. what clicked for me was building around a SilverStone DS380B - it's 8-bay hotswap in a compact case that fits nicely on a shelf or even a 10" rack with adapters. got the DIY tinkering without the full sheet metal headache. if you lean pre-built though the Synology

NAS for someone who already has a VM machine

I do homelabbing and have tons of VMs and containers, but for an NAS I valued brand reputation and "it just works". Went with a Synology DS1522+, of which I'm only using 3 bays right now. Anyhoo -- I'd recommend Synology or UGREEN, the former being the more established but now riskier brand due to r

Can the N150 or N97 handle multiple 4K h.265 video streams at once, including possible transcoding?

Good idea. To be fair, I feel it will be relatively fast for my experience, considering I was using a DS918+, and now am using a DS1522+.
