I had the same needs (plus some backups, movies and the ability to run Docker) so i got the Synology DS725+ with an extra stick of 16GB RAM and two 6TB drives. It works really well with Synology Photos (back up turned on) and Google photos (bac importk turned off) on my phone. So i can still use Goo

For Lightroom you want speed. If you want to run your catalog directly off your NAS you will want it connected via ethernet, ideally at 2.5Gb or above. You want to make sure your ethernet router/switch can handle that as well. Both the DS225+ and the DS725+ have 2.5Gb but don't allow for higher spee

I'm happy I could help! If you keep both your NAS devices up and running and online, yes, you can access them whenever you want from wherever. A strong password, 2FA and you shouldn't have to worry about anything. The DS224+ might seem like a good model, but it has an outdated Intel Celeron J4125 CP

Your WD Red Plus drive will work fine in your DS725+ with DSM 7.3 or later. You will see Unverfied warnings in storage manager. If you're annoyed by the warnings you can get rid of them with https://github.com/007revad/Synology_HDD_db That bannana is telling you it wants to be eaten now.

LOL Synology don't send me stuff to test so I have to buy my own. Someone was kind enough to donate their old M2D18 which was a big help at the time. I only bought the DX213 to see if I could get unsupported Synology expansion units working with newer Synology NAS. I would have preferred an RX418 or

I have Synology with 10 gbit card. It cannot saturate that; not even half of it. One that shipped with a 10GbE interface, or one that you added a PCI card to? If so which card? Heck, even locally running apps cannot make sensible use of the drive bandwidth, since all I/O is waiting for the weak cpu

since its for a law firm, where any downtime can accrue extreme costs, you want a failover setup. That is, if your first synology goes down, you want the other one to automatically replace it. Right now you have data backups if DS725 fails, but you'll likely need to manually repoint things to the 91

One small thing I would like to add, maybe you would like to consider Hyperbackup (Full Mode) from your DS725+ to your DS916+. I encountered an edge case (and admittedly stupid from my part) where I've basically reset 2FA of all domain users on my Synology NAS. Synology Support Team told me that the
