Is there a reason outside of being Amazon that Kindles are disliked in this sub (US specific)?
I just sold my Scribe - which is a nice piece of hardware - and I'm totally thrilled about it and will explain why. I have a Viwoods and Boox reader, and had a Meebook 7" that was priced below the Kindle Paperwhite and was so much more useful, especially the buttons. Kindles are not e-book readers.

New version 3.9.3 (beta).. Looks really promising!
Oooh. This looks exciting!! I’m not signed up for beta. I keep meaning to do so but forget. Can’t wait for this update. I wonder when they’ll bring in sync across devices. It’s kind of funny to see and use all of this tech. I was born back before computers, mobiles and when tv was black and white (i

Update from Viwoods on the Reader Front Light
They were a bit more specific in the two emails I got from them and I am also disappointed. First, they replied: We do have a plan to adjust the minimum light of the AiPaper Reader; however, this plan is still under evaluation, and the new version has not yet entered formal production. Therefore, th

8-Inch E-Ink Tablet for Mixed Use: Must have Portability AND Open App Support (Kindle/Libby)
In my opinion, the product that best fits this description is the AiPaper mini by Viwoods. It's beautifully built (I have the large model, but the small one is coming soon), and it has a customizable interface where you can set up your library, notebooks, and memos. Otherwise, just pretend the Andro

Advice on distraction-free and eink-based academic workflows
The problem with the super-minimalist e-ink devices like the Mudita and the Remarkable is that you often need to do something that the device doesn't let you do. So you turn to your iPhone or iPad, and then an hour later you realize you got distracted. That is why I prefer the Hibreak Pro for a phon

The Importance of Software & Why I Returned the Boox Note Air 4C (Full Review)
I love that! So well put. I have amassed a little collection of e ink devices. Inc Viwoods ai paper and a Boox go. In theory they should be incredibly similar. Same Size more or less, android etc etc. however they really are quite different. This was my first ever experience of android. I found the

New eReader. Between the Boox go 7, Bigme B7 and Kobo Libra Color
If you want something between 6–8 inches and you’re planning to read a lot, use Libby/Hoopla, and do some audiobooks, I’d go with the BOOX Go 7. It’s the best mix of e-ink screen quality, portability, and flexibility since it runs full Android and handles the library apps well. If you ever decide yo

First 2 weeks with Viwoods AI Paper Mini
It may just be a matter of patience, but if it is used for work or study this inconvenience is a problem today. I really don’t want to back to Remarkable, too expensive and since I tried the new experience with my Paper Pro I ended up disenchanted with the brand. rM Paper Pro was too heavy, too big,

E-ink for typing?
Any Android e-ink tablet will give you an on-screen keyboard like an iPad. From what I own, the ViWoods AiPaper is probably the closest fit: no front light (so easier on the eyes), simple UI, and you can just type in any Android app. If you want smaller, the BOOX Palma Pro is a nice “mini” option, b

Before I hit that BUY button...
tldr; RTFM For those less informed, Google Play installation is an OPTION. Some don't want it, especially since it will consume power in the background and won't use it for more than it's basic installed apps. It took me about 2 minutes to get Play installed and done. I haven't had any issue with no
