Tonie Box - Do kids actually like it?

Just here to suggest the Yoto player. It’s been a hit from 5-8. My 12 year old likes it too, but the books for her age are limited, so she typically uses Libby or Sora instead.

Screen free parents/carers - best resources for screen-free activities?

Not so much a resource but let your child be bored sometimes, they don’t need constant stimulation. Boredom brings out creativity. Open ended toys that they can reach independently are good like building blocks, magnatiles, animal figurines like Schleich if they’re older. Baby proof your entire hous

How do Waldorf parents feel about Yoto Players? (or other screen free audio players like Tonies or Storypod…)

I like the yoto but Tonies are a no. I don’t need more toys to keep track of. Yoto cards live on a clip with a string attached to player.

What have you gifted your 4/5 year olds?

At that age, I would do a Yoto mini instead of a tonie if you are going to do a kids audio player— mostly because it is way easy to travel with and the cards are way easier to store. We got one for my daughter’s fourth birthday, and she is now 5 1/2. It is now basically the only thing we need on air

"Five Nights at Epstein's" video game sweeps US classrooms

They don't? When I was a kid, "good content" meant watching whatever was on the TV at that time, which would be a kids show IF I was lucky. If I was REALLY lucky we might get a VHS tape from the local library - which had a total of 20 movies to choose from, 6 of which were for kids. I watched Das Bo

Pre-holiday season check-in. What are they still playing with from last year?

A Yoto Mini Player. That thing gets used damn near every day since we bought it for my daughter. I'm honestly not sure if it was an xmas gift or not, but it was at least 6 months ago. My son uses his Tonies, too, but the Yoto has more cool stuff and more content for a little older kids that increase

Bracelet making while pumping

Oh I love that! Mine is screen based but I make icons for my kid’s Yoto player. I use Pixilart. Every time I pump I pull out my laptop and work on an icon. Then I share them to the Yoto icons site so other people can use them too.

Toddler’s accident is pushing our limits

Honestly, I really don’t think screen time rules apply when you have a kid who needs distracting for medical reasons, spend time watching with her and talk to her about the show, engage with it too and that will help. Perhaps look into a Yoto player too, kind of like a kids audiobook device, we have
