We just bought our first house in the 'burbs. Use MoCA or hire low voltage company to install Cat6e?

I've been using MoCA for 11+ months, zero hassles in that time. It's cheaper than running Ethernet too. See https://github.com/Preston-Landers/MoCA-setup-guide for an overview of the typical process. He estimates up to $500. I spent $132. Saved by getting Frontier FCA252 MoCA adapters off eBay (boug

"Best" mesh router?

TL;DR: Get any mesh system for easy setup. ASUS sells easy to install systems that include all security features for free. For your home size and design (wired backhaul) I think the BT8 (aka ZenWiFi BE14000) would work well for you. It has 2.5GB ports and is tri-band (includes 6ghz) WiFi 7. If you d

Best WiFi Mesh UK

I use Asus ZenWifi XT8 mesh system (3 nodes) - detached house - all working flawlessly (cat 6 for ATV/Macs/gaming and wifi 6 for iPhones/security cameras etc.). Think there is a newer version of this one now though so have a check. Totally happy with performance and speed. EDIT - all nodes are CAT6

Cheap Router/mesh system for Apartment

u/crispysmoove I agree with u/TheImmortal_TK that ASUS would be a solid pick for you. BTW I have the slightly older ASUS XT8 mesh system and it works well in wireless backhaul, as it's tri-band WiFi 6 (2.4/5/5ghz bands). One of the 5ghz bands is dedicated to mesh traffic and the other 5ghz is just f

Teen is annoyingly smart

I have Asus Zenwifi xt8 and it has whitelisting feature for MAC address. Very good hardware I have two of them Ethernet backhauled. Also have fiber (AT&T) and just turn off all WiFi signals on att box and if you have any port forwarding rules you have to point towards the asus and then set up rules

Wireless backhaul acceptable?

I have the ASUS XT8 Mesh system. It's only WiFi 6 but has excellent range & has worked very well via wireless backhaul. It has a secondary 5ghz band just for Mesh communication. Even though it works very well, sometimes the Mesh node needed to be rebooted as it would lose connection to the Mesh rout

Mesh Wifi Nodes

Perhaps you meant to write, "...By using a wired backhaul you will get amazing Wi-Fi speeds everywhere"? Because that is what I have seen in my environment. I use ASUS XT8 mesh. Two nodes. Wireless backhaul, they work great. Wired backhaul, it's rock solid and bulletproof. I used to need to reboot t

best mesh wifi system for a medium size house in 2026 what should I get?

Not sure why your comment was downvoted, but I tossed you an up-vote. I can confirm ASUS AiMesh doesn't like IoT very much (I have an ASUS XT8 system, wired backhaul). Smart plugs/switches don't stay connected, and other times they remain connected fine for weeks. Very aggravating. To fix this I dus

Looking for advice on Fiber Wifi issue

Yup. those are basically the ones we had here previously before I ditched them. They're too outdated and the wireless backhaul eats into the throughput while dancing between 2.4/5ghz. We run a pair of asus zenwifi xt8 i got for cheap off ebay. fixed it all up after being able to set up correctly bas

New forced contract on ASUS router - give us all your personal information

Even well-reviewed routers can have negative customer feedback. As an example my ASUS XT8 is consistently well reviewed. PC Magazine considers it the best WiFi 6 mesh system: https://www.pcmag.com/picks/the-best-wi-fi-mesh-network-systems But check Amazon reviews and you'll see people have a love/ha
