Tired of my Breville Bambino setup… wedding registry upgrade? [$1800]
Keep the Bambino, buy a better grinder. Edit: additional information Consider what you want out of your espresso experience and how much time investment you're intending to put into things. A nicer espresso machine will have better temperature stability, likely because you're trading thermoblock for

New DF54 Owner Seeking Advice
Lance was one person who taught me to think, and challenge, when it comes to coffee. I spent many years trying to learn from internet forums before starting to think for myself lol. Find me the actual scientific proof that WDT matters. (You won't be able to, at least in a fashion where a human can t

Are puck prep tools necessary?
Not everyone is experiencing what I’m experiencing I’m just saying that a good grinder is a must If I was still using the Breville SGP then I would have to WDT the hell out of it because the clumps are ridiculous I bought a Rancilio stile and it’s literally clump free

Good beginner setup?[buying advice needed less than $800]
I have both the smart grinder and the encore esp. The smart grinder is better. Anyone that says otherwise doesn't have a direct comparison . Encore is manual, has far more retention and I find more inconsistent. I have to change the grind size on it just getting through a single bag of 250g beans. A

My mom wants an espresso machine for her birthday, what’s a good beginner setup for complete newbies? [$300]
I have both the Breville Smart Grinder Pro, and the Baratza Encore ESP. One of the few in /espresso that actually has both for proper direct comparisons. The Breville Smart Grinder Pro is easily the better grinder. The herd mentality of Baratza Encore ESP being the best low budget grinder is just fl

Is a conical grinder really better for espresso?
That sounds like a low cost grinder like the Breville/Sage one: https://www.coffeeforums.co.uk/threads/iberital-mc2-vs-sage-smart-grinder-pro-vs-eureka-mignon.19165/ I wouldn't bother trying to use it for espresso. Those grinders don't have the fine tolerances needed to produce fine consistent groun

The Smart Grinder Pro
I have the same grinder. The Smart Grinder Pro by Breville. Primarily using it for espresso grounds… I see in the discussion that it’s not necessarily the best and has some inconsistencies. I have enjoyed it so far but struggle understanding what the setting targets should be… What should the timing

What’s the most inconsistent coffee method for you?
Inconsistency for me has always been just forgetting to finish counting how many seconds I was supposed to brew in my Aeropress. Aeropress + Breville Smart Grinder Pro has been the most consistent tools tho. And ofc, a good temperature variable kettle that adjusts to exact celsius degree.

Grinder recommendations [~$350]
Smart Grinder Pro will work and it's comfy with Breville gear, mais niveau constance pour l'espresso pur c'est pas le top comparé à un Sette ou un Mignon. If you can stretch or buy used, look at a Baratza Sette 270 (great for espresso) or an Eureka Mignon model — both have better shot-to-shot stabil
